WORCS LAKE HAVASU, AZ

JAN 22-24

WORCS Round 1 in Lake Havasu offered a first for a lot of racers. We had wet weather come in through the week/weekend and change the course of how the track normally shapes up to be. The motocross track was a mudder and the sand compacted much more than usual which made the sand less forgiving and a little rougher than years past.

Manufacturers across the board stepped up bringing a lot of talented riders. The top 10 in the class are all capable of winning any round. All of our team riders looked great during practice and felt good coming into this round. Bob at Precision Concepts worked with Tyler and Mason during the week to improve their settings for the weekend.

JUSTIN SEEDS

1ST

VET PRO

The Seeds and Bell rivalry hype has been thrilling between the Precision Concepts and Purvines race teams. The Vet Pro class has gained a lot of attention since these two have raced each other. All in good fun, the two have been bench racing each other to get the fastest lap times. Seeds sent it this weekend and came out with the win. It has been very valuable to have Justin racing hard to give the other riders on the team feedback about the course and what lines are useful.

In his words: "I was able to get a great start and came out if the first corner with the lead. Was able to hold the lead for about half the race and then unfortunately killed the bike and Robby was able to get by. After that I put my head down and had another fun battle with Robby for the second weekend in a row but this time I made the pass stick and walked away with the win."

THOMAS DUNN

7TH

PRO 250

Dunn had his best weekend so far this year. His thumb has finally started to bother him less and he came in healthy for the weekend. He had a terrible start and worked his way up to the top ten with some consistent laps. No doubt this will be a break out year for him and hope to see him on the podium soon!

In his words: "The track in Havasu was gnarly this weekend. I didn’t help myself out at all with a dead last start. I knew it was going to be a long 2 hours so I just rode a steady pace. Had some really good battles with 3 or 4 guys and by the end of the race I found myself in 7th. Going to keep working hard and hopefully be closer to the front at the next one."

TYLER LYNN

DNF

   PRO

Lynn was in the top ten with a solid pace in the first 45 minutes. He battled a little arm pump naturally because of the unusual conditions, but started to bounce back until he had issues with the bike. He came into the pits to try and get resolution with it, but it was out of our control during the race. Unfortunately he had to DNF the race.

In his words: "Definitely not the weekend we wanted. Got off to a great start and was running the pace of the leaders till we had a mechanical issue that would eventually take us outta the race. It was still a great weekend and I’m excited for what ahead!"

MASON OTTERSBERG

DNF

PRO 250

Ottersberg got a new suspension setting that made him feel very confident in his bike and had a flash of his old self during practice on Friday and Saturday. He was 3rd off the start during the pro race Sunday and battled some arm pump early on and fell back to around 8th. He started to loosen up about 45 minutes in and was gaining his pace back and making passes toward the front when his bike had an issue and forced him to pull out of the race unexpectedly. He is healthy and now using the break to keep getting more seat time before the 2nd round in taft.

In his words: "I felt so much better on the bike this weekend. These sand races have not been easy to come back to racing so I am just doing my best to survive and come away with good points for the championship. We have a couple weeks off so fortunately I will have that time to keep getting back to my race shape. My confidence is there, I just need to keep getting seat time. Bummed on the DNF and I don't think any of us are happy about it, but I am healthy and ready for another round!"

AVA SILVESTRI

3RD

WOMEN'S PRO

Silvestri had a solid weekend finishing on the podium with the best women in the class. She rode a consistent pace the entire race running fourth most of the laps until she got toward the last few laps and made the pass for third. It is a long season and we see her getting more confident every time she throws a leg over her Yamaha.

In her words: "I was super happy to head back to my favorite place in Havasu after a rough weekend out at Mesquite, and it definitely showed. This weekend was a huge confidence booster for me and it showed me what I’m capable of. I felt super good on the bike all weekend and was gelling with the course amazingly, despite how rough it was. I’m happy with a 3rd and can’t wait to keep this momentum going for the rest of year!"

CAITLYN KURTZ

2ND

WOMEN'S EXPERT

Kurtz is a beast! She finished 2nd on the box in women's expert and was one of a few to jump the treacherous lagoon jump. It was sketchy enough seeing some decent riders crash on the jump this weekend and she went for it anyways. Unfortunately Sunday during her race she cased it and crashed hard. She is okay and will be getting more answers this week if she will be racing the next round or not. We are impressed with her riding and hope to see her back in a couple weeks.

In her words: "Round one of WORCS at Havasu was a gnarly one! Saturday’s race started off with a rough start but I was able to make quick passes into third. I battle the majority of the race and when it came down to those final last laps I was able to push my way into second place for the Women’s A class! Sunday’s race however didn’t go as planned. I had a great start in the 15-24 Sportsman B class, but three laps in I was taken out of the race by the lagoon jump and wasn’t able to finish."
