I love the month of February. The weather can be cold and gray this time of year though, and sometimes you just need a boost or a pick-me-up to beat the gloom. So this month we're talking about Happy Lists! This newsletter will include what they are, how to build one, and examples to inspire your own list. |
A Happy List is a compilation of actions that boost your mood, give you energy, and make you feel your best. They're the things that make you happy and invigorated! It's a list for you to use when you feel sluggish, bummed out, grumpy, or just overall "meh." Basically it gets you from wiped to hyped! A Happy List gives you options to choose from to get you out of slump and change the state you're in. You may not feel like doing these things at first, but they make you feel good after. A note: Happy Lists shouldn't involve behaviors that offer artificial mood boosts. Scrolling through social media or eating junk food typically won't provide the mood change that lasts. |
Start by brainstorming 10 things that make you feel great when you do them. To get your creative juices flowing, you can answer these questions: what makes me feel fulfilled? What brings me peace? What makes me feel motivated? What makes me feel energized? Next, you can divide your list into different categories. I like to sort them by how long the activity will take: 5-minute, 15-minute, and 1-hour. Lastly, put your list somewhere accessible. Remember, it's your Happy List so tailor it to you, like calling it something other than a Happy List. Do what works best for you. |
Happy Lists are meant to be a tool in your wellness kit. It is a resource for you to utilize so you can thrive. It is there as a reminder of the things that make you feel your best when you need them. There will be days when you need to physically, mentally, or emotionally rest. Listen to your body & mind, and be kind to yourself. |

Recipe of the Month: Turkey Chipotle Chili |
For a simple, yummy meal, try this turkey chipotle chili. This is something I came up with and make it often when I need a filling, quick meal. It's nothing too special, but it's nice and reliable. | | |
