EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM STARTUP A hopeful sign for the unknown future, SLCUSD's six-year old Therapeutic Horticulture Program, PREPARE, returned for its weekly farm class in June, observing physical distancing and wearing face coverings. |

Students harvested potatoes, onions and squash, which was delivered to the Food Bank and Salvation Army Food Pantry, along with cauliflower and broccoli from Fox and Rye Farm. |

PEST PRESSURE AND PEST CONTROL Cucumber Beetles that descended in May caused failure of cucumber and pole bean crops and threatened the summer squashes. Several rows were replanted from starts in the greenhouse, and this time covered with insect row cover. After five weeks, the cover was removed, and this time, with the help of a flock of blackbirds that eat bugs, they may survive. |
