Six music creators were recruited for CoDi Experimental – a pathway for experimental writing / practice.

Amy Sterly, Emma Daman Thomas, Fern Thomas, Francesca Simmons, Simon Proffitt, and Stephen Black were selected from more than 30 applicants to take part in CoDI Experimental. Guiding the artists through the process were Angharad Davies (violin), Rhodri Davies (harp & electronics) and Siwan Rhys (piano), who formed an artistic collective specially for this project. The three are leading experimental artists, whose careers have embraced a range of avant-garde music, including improvisation, new methods of notation, interpreting text-&-graphic scores, live electronics and performance art.

Working from the TÅ· Cerdd archive collection, the collective created source materials for the six composers to respond to/use during the creative process. Through a series of workshops, new works were developed, culminating in a recording in St Edward's Church, Cardiff in May.

Alongside a clear interest in / experience of working in experimental ways, the practitioners demonstrated an engagement with Welsh cultural heritage and the Welsh language. The artistic collective are all Welsh-speakers, and the pathway were held bilingually.
