From the President

The McKenney Hills - Carroll Knolls Civic Association received the 2022 Sentinel Award from the Montgomery County Civic Federation (MCCF). This award is given annually to an individual or group, typically outside of government, for a significant contribution to good government" at the local level. Our association was chosen because of the tremendous growth we've had in the past two years; our membership is up 475%! You can read more about it in the MCCF newsletter.

Hoppin' into Spring

The Spring Egg Hunt took place in McKenney Hills Park on Saturday, April 23rd and was a smashing success! Neighborhood kids of all ages danced, played with bubbles, and enjoyed spring-themed arts and crafts in beautiful weather. The field was cleared in record time and goodie bags were enjoyed by all. Many thanks to the volunteers who helped put this event together!

Traffic & Safety

Neighbors from both sides of Georgia Avenue continue to advocate for safety improvements on Georgia following the tragic death of 4-year old Iliana Hernandez in an October car crash at the corner of Georgia and Dexter. As of early June, the plans have been drawn for the permits and they are in the process of submitting the permit paperwork to the State Highway Association for approval of the speed cameras. They are hopeful this permit will be approved in the next few weeks and cameras placed shortly thereafter.

Neighborhood Watch

With warmer weather, the chances increase that there will be vehicle break-ins in the middle of the night. Take the valuables out. And check before going to sleep that the vehicle is locked. So many neighbors have reported over the years that the they meant to lock their vehicles, but forgot. So ask yourself before turning in for the night, “Did I lock the car or truck?"
