I really don’t have anything to say.
I send one newsletter a month.
I often write about something that’s top of mind, that’s bugging me the day I send it.
Or something I’ve had a bee in my bonnet about for a while.
But I’ve been through my file of possible ideas and none really excited me.
So, you may ask, why are you writing?
Just to ask: Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all the cable news networks, writers, bloggers, podcasters and anyone else who shares their thoughts publicly, occasionally just admitted they were filling air time/column inches/our email inboxes, but had nothing new to say?
Especially as we endure the next five months until the November elections?
We all know it’s true.
How many movies would improve if they were 20 minutes shorter? (Most, in my opinion.)
How many books or articles would benefit from a good edit that cut them by a quarter or a half (or more)?
How many breaking news reports would you sacrifice for just one thoughtful, well-researched story that gave context and insight?
Please, communicators of all types, remember that we can barely process the glut of information we labor under 24/7, 365 days a year.
Please, get to the point and make it worth our while.
Okay – that’s enough.
Thanks for indulging me.
I’ll shut up now.
Hope you’re having a good day and, as always, thanks for reading!
