Hi everyone, There are some new and returning food deals this week, including a whiskey tasting dinner, and of course the Colombo Street Food Festival is back this weekend. There's also several EDM parties at the weekend and some great live music including some classical and jazz and a Christmas market at the weekend. This weekend's Country Music and Rodeo fair has unfortunately been postponed but we hope to see that back again soon. Meal Deals and Food Offers The Galadari have introduced a nice new Sri Lankan Evening every Wednesday. From 7.00pm to 11.00pm, you can enjoy Sri Lankan themed bites, cocktails and live music; there is also a Sri Lankan dinner buffet priced at Rs3,000. There's also a Sri Lankan Hopper Night this week, on Thursday 24 November at The Joint in Chatham Street. They are offering a variety of hoppers, and also some nice exotic cocktails - with happy hour from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, enough time to work up an appetite for the hoppers from 7.00pm! On Saturday 26 November, The Regent Country Club have a Seafood Experience night with bites, a dinner buffet and DJ music. The evening starts at 6.00pm and the cost is Rs2,500 for buffet and dessert. It's BYOB with free corkage. Lunch time and back to The Joint who have launched a new lunch packet for Rs890 with yellow rice or garlic rice. It's available for take away, or for delivery in the Fort area. Call by 10.30am to order and, if you're within 1km, they'll drop it off for you, otherwise you can collect it between 12.30 and 3.30pm. There are two food and music festivals to choose from this weekend. On Friday, the Wine and Dine Street festival is at Odel at Independence Arcade with a host of food stalls and lots of live music, starting from 4.00pm. The Colombo Street Food Festival is also back at Hospital Street, on both Friday and Saturday evenings from 5.00pm with food stalls, fun and music. | | |

Drinks Deals Love food? Love Whisky? Then you'll love the Single Malt Experience this Thursday at Curve Bar. You can sample three different Glenfiddich single malts, followed by a three-course dinner. The event is from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and cost is Rs8000 per person. For some refreshing Sangria at Sunset, head up to Cloud Red, the rooftop bar at Cinnamon Red this Sunday 27 November for "Sangria, Sax and the City" with live saxophone music and 15% off Sangria by the glass or pitcher. Speaking of rooftops, the Movenpick's Vistas rooftop bar has happy hours from 4pm to 7pm Sunday to Thursday and from 4pm to 6pm on Friday and Saturday. Live Music and DJs On Friday "Joලිය" sees four artists and two bands in a benefit gig in support of Lady Ridgeway Hospital. The Wine & Dine Street festival at Arcade has Centigradz, Chitral, Apzi and Romaine onstage with Line One and DJ Shane. Over at the Street Food Festival, The Kingdom will be playing on Friday and Slipping Chairs on Saturday. On Saturday, "Colombro" has seven performers on stage with Yaka Crew, at Viharamaha Devi Open Air Theatre. For classical music, Kalini Perera will be performing with his violin ensemble and four guests at Music Matters on Friday 25 November at 8pm. Jazz, and En Route will be at Playtrix on Sunday for a lunch time session, from 11am to 4pm. EDM music and there's a lot this weekend, On Friday, "All Night Light" has DJs A-Jay, Ultra, Subandrio and Nishan Lee at Zouk, plus the resident DJs, from 7pm. On Saturday, the Top Deck Retro Boat Party sets off at 7pm with music bites (and BYOB). "A Whole Lotta Juice" at Sugar Beach features DJs A-Jay, A'Jerome, Kyoto, Music Director, Fernando & Sajay. And "The Secret Garden" at Kava Bar has DJ Sash with four support DJs. And if you want to continue on Sunday, "Ruminate" at Revolution Colombo has eight DJs, from 11am to 11pm. And at the same time, "Trippy Sunday" has Jayy Vibes, Ultra, Nishan Lee plus four more DJs at The Deck in Dehiwala, Looking ahead to next week, there's four live music gigs and five DJ nights! A highlight is Stigmata Stripped Down, unplugged at Re.pub.lk on Saturday 3 December. There's also an all-day pool party "Ice your Paradise" with three bands and three DJs. Other Events Let the performer in you come out on Thursday at Open Mic with House of Grace. It's at 7.00pm at Sugar Bistro. If the performer in you is a salsa dancer, then you'll want to be Playtrix on Thursday for Salsa Night. There's a workshop from 6pm to 9pm, then the rest of the evening is free for dancing, which you can refresh with the 1+1 deal on Cuba Libre or Mojito cocktails. On Saturday, there's a webinar that might be useful for freelancers: "Get Paid for Your Work" will share information and tips, online at 11.00am. Many people have a deep fear of public speaking. This Sunday, there is a "Public Speaking Masterclass" for teens, aged 13+ covering objectives from confidence to delivery to reaction. It's at the Academy of Modern Learning on Sunday 27 November from 09.30am to 12.30pm and costs just Rs800. Christmas markets are starting and one of the first is Dolce Italia who are hosting a Christmas Market, on Sunday 27th from 11.00am to 10.30pm. Note fort the young ones - there's a rumour that Santa might be dropping in! Also an advance date for the diary, the famous International Charity Christmas Bazaar is back, with stalls offering goods from around the world and mega raffle. It's on Sunday 4 December at the Galle Face Hotel and starts at 11.00am. If you were planning to go to the Wild West Rodeo and Country Music festival at Ceylon Riding Club this weekend, sorry to say it has been postponed but let's hope it will be back soon, it sounded like it was going to be a lot of fun! | | |
