Double Down on 2022 Goals

Is anyone else having trouble believing it's already MARCH? Would you like to form a support group because I need help dealing with this fact!

As far as goals go, I am actually pretty happy with my progress. Although, full confession, I still haven't settled on a March goal for my habit stacking. Shhh don't tell! Mostly I just decided to focus on maintaining January and February goals, and giving myself some grace on the next one.

After all, since the month began, my oldest daughter has been home for part of what is the earliest spring break any of us have ever had, and four relatives are visiting from Illinois for at least a week. Along with classes and clients and tons to do around our home which we may be putting on the market soon (I am not leaving the area!), I know it's one of those times I should NOT add too much to my agenda. Ironically, I have a list of annual goals to choose from, I guess I'm just having one of those analysis-paralysis moments.

So maybe if I can just keep trucking on previous goals, make good plans for my customers, keep up on my workouts and running (I have a 5k in a few weeks), then I am just going to call that GOOD! I'll share my experience on that next month. It has been years since I entered an actual in-person race, and I am excited!

Maybe my March goal will be to make it to the next day, each day! ;)

Have you missed a workout lately?

Let’s hop into your Delorean and travel back in time…not too far, just a couple of months.

Back to when you set your goals for 2022 at the beginning of the year.

What does your past self think about how much your current self has accomplished so far this year? Are you happy and excited about your progress?

Or are you thinking, “Oy, here we go again.”

(As I indicated above, I think I am somewhere in between!)

Either way, let's turn that Delorean around and come back to the preset because it’s time to GET TO WORK.

If you’re happy with how things are going, that’s awesome. But if you’re NOT (first of all, you're probably not alone), it’s definitely NOT too late to get back on track.

Question #1: Ask yourself: What happened?

  • Did you lose steam because you weren’t getting the results fast enough?
  • Because it took too much time?
  • Because you missed a workout or ate some “bad” food, and threw in the towel?
  • Because you lost interest?
  • Because you didn’t have enough support to keep you accountable and motivated?
  • Or is what you’re doing just not working?

If you think about this the right way, it’s an opportunity in disguise. This is because reflection gives you the chance to get to the ROOT of an issue. When you practice self-reflection – and you keep it honest – you get to know yourself a lot better. This way you can pick up on triggers or tendencies that derail your progress, and you can make different decisions next time around.

Which leads me to:

Question #2: What can I do to overcome _____

(whatever your answer was in question 1)?

(And then DO it.)

This might include literally putting yourself on your calendar and blocking others from

scheduling anything for you in that time, doing some meal prep, setting an alarm to GO TO SLEEP (not just to wake up) and putting your screens away in plenty of time to wind down, filling a specific container to track your water intake, starting a new habit tracker, or even hiring a trainer or coach (like me, of course!) to help you reach their goal. A coach can create a plan for you and your lifestyle so you don’t have to go through the pains of figuring it out on your own, but they also help support you and hold you accountable.

(I even use some occasional coaching!)

If you’ve fallen off track with goals, but you’re NOT ready to throw in towel, and you want to finally make your goals a reality, make a plan & get back on track-it's never too late!

Kristy wrote to tell me: "Thank you! My goal was to kick my after-dinner-sweet-binge habit, and I have been successful all week! It seems to be the only time when sugar calls to me.. but now I'm much more aware of it being present in other foods too."

Cheesy Eggs, Veggies & Beans

😋This is one of those “throw-it-together” fast meals that make you go, “YUM!”

PLUS … it’s perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Chances are you have the ingredients for this in your kitchen at all times.

If you don’t have any leftover veggies, you can use frozen or go without them.

Try this with cheddar, feta, or goat cheese …

or if you want to avoid the cheese, add a few healthy dashes of nutritional yeast.

BONUS: It’s good for you, packed with protein and fiber.

Cheesy Eggs, Veggies, and Beans

(makes 1 serving)

  • Nonstick spray
  • Leftover veggies (or handful of salad greens)
  • ½ cup (130 grams) canned beans
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ oz (15 grams) cheese, grated

Heat a small skillet coated with nonstick cooking spray over medium heat. Add the veggies and beans and cook, stirring, until warm. Lower the heat.

Whisk the eggs together in a small bowl and add salt and pepper. Pour the eggs into the skillet, stirring until scrambled. Remove from the pan onto a plate and top with cheese.

Breakfast/lunch/dinner is served!
