Australia's 1st Meaningful Work Survey

At Beaumont People, we exist to connect people with organisations that empower them to do meaningful work and to create more opportunities for meaningful work in Australia.

This business philosophy is what sparked our interest in better understanding what meaningful work is.

We recognise that meaningful work may be different for each of us, so we have engaged researchers, Dr Elizabeth Shoesmith and Dr Jill Rathborne, to assist us in developing Australia's first Meaningful Work Survey, in order to find a way to help individuals determine their need for meaningful work and assist the organisations we work with to provide meaningful work.

What is Meaningful Work?

Meaningful Work is the importance an individual places on their work meeting their current personal beliefs, values, goals, expectations, and purpose in the context of their social and cultural environment.

Despite the vast amount of research undertaken on the concept and measurement of meaningful work, there remains no consistent definition of meaningful work nor consensus on the scales designed to measure it.

Complete surveys A and B

We are asking for you to take part in the first integrated global study on Meaningful Work
by completing BOTH surveys below.

Our new approach to identifying and measuring meaningful work makes no assumptions about the importance of meaningful work for an individual, is future-focused, and integrates both the psychological and sociological perspectives. This approach enables direct matching and alignment of meaningful work for considerably improved individual organisational fit.

Supporting the Sustainability Development Goals

What happens next?

The process is simple. We will be carefully listening and observing your personal and employee needs. We will then explore any key drivers to meaningful work and how this can be used to better match individuals and organisations. Then we will share all our learnings with you, as we recognise that through sharing, collaborating and learning, we can transform lives.

01

Listening

The survey will be open from September 2019 to October 2019 to ensure we gather data that evenly represents individuals and sectors across Australia.
02

Understanding

During November we will deep dive into the responses to better understand the drivers to Meaningful Work from both an individual and organisational perspective.
03

Sharing

We won't keep this juicy intel to ourselves! If you are interested in these findings, sign up to receive the first Meaningful Work Research Paper below.
