Let's Talk Youth Health! Are you a young person aged 15 to 24? Have you ever accessed WA’s Child and Adolescent Health Services (CAHS)? This could be the Perth Childrens Hospital (formerly PMH), the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) or a community health service. If so, we want to hear from you! YACWA is hosting workshop with young people to co-design CAHS Consumer Representatives and Recruitment Management Policy. We want your feedback on better ways to engage, involve and retain young people as consumer representatives (those who have accessed CAHS). We especially want to hear from young people from diverse backgrounds, such as refugee and migrant young people. We want to explore how recruitment can be made more accessible, inclusive and culturally appropriate. To thank you for your participation, you will receive a $50 Coles/Myer gift card. Snacks and drinks will be provided (and dietary requirements catered for). When: Thursday 12th September, 4.30pm to 6.30pm (2 hours) Where: Foyer Oxford, 196 Oxford Street, Leederville (in the Spark/Kindle room) If you have any queries, please contact Mika at mika@yacwa.org.au or 9227 5440 (Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays). |

2019 WA Youth Awards - nominate today This year marks the 21st year of the WA Youth Awards. We know that young people don’t often get recognised for the contributions that they make to the community, and our community often falls back into the stereotype that young people are disengaged and disinterested. This event proves that stereotype to be very, very wrong. There are nine award categories including Most Outstanding Youth Worker Award, the Hope Community Services Positive Achievement Award and the Youth Futures Innovation for a Sustainable Future Award. It's not too late to get your nominations in. Nominations close Saturday 6th September. The WA Youth Awards will be presented on Friday, 25 October 2019 at the State Theatre Centre Perth. |

Scholarships The Refugee Council works with universities to provide scholarships for people seeking asylum. Unlike holders of permanent humanitarian visas, people seeking asylum and refugees on temporary protection visas are not eligible for programs and concessions designed to assist students with financing tertiary education. A number of universities have now started providing scholarships to people seeking asylum and refugees on temporary visas. |
