True to our name, Creatively United likes to creatively bring people and solutions together that address key issues concerning us all. This short newsletter features two of our latest creative endeavours, a new 15-minute video and the free public premiere of a 60-minute documentary, are for your consideration below. If you would be interested in knowing about an effective solution to address the threat of toxic biosolids making their way into our air, water and soil that could potentially make municipal solid waste a thing of the past and stop the expansion of landfills and resulting loss and destruction of wildlife habitat and trees and save our farmlands then our newest video is for you: |

Every day 10 tonnes of highly toxic biosolids are being land applied or buried at the Hartland Landfill in Victoria, BC. This toxicity is not currently regulated by the BC Ministry of Environment and therefore poses a real threat to public health and the environment. A number of public interest groups, led by Butchart Gardens, have released this video which explains why toxic biosolids from Victoria’s sewage treatment plant are a public health threat and call for the CRD and Province of British Columbia to adopt thermal conversion as the only safe and viable solution. Produced by the Creatively United for the Planet Society, the video features numerous experts discussing how toxic chemicals in biosolids accumulate in the environment, as they cannot be destroyed in nature, and viable and safe solutions that the CRD and province need to immediately adopt. Leading agricultural groups have also called for continuing the ban on land application of biosolids throughout the Region. If food security, water, trees, and health matter to you and your family and friends, then please see this one-minute read which includes how to quickly and correctly fill out the CRD's short survey due this Wednesday, March 6th. Use this handy guide to answering the CRD's Biosolids Survey (survey link included). Other actions to take: 1. Contact the CRD Board at crdboard@crd.bc.ca Let them know you oppose the land application of biosolids in the CRD. 2. Contact your local elected officials and ask them to support the longstanding CRD ban on the land application of biosolids. 3. Share this video with your friends and ask them to do the same to protect our local environment, public health and food security! |
