July in a nutshell...

July has come & gone ...

We said good-bye to Dinky's litter & are getting ready to say good-bye to Squeaks' litter...

And we had to make the extremely hard decision to say good-bye to Dolly. We still aren't emotionally ready to talk about it, as the wounds are still raw & fresh. We loved her dearly & the pawprints she left on our hearts will never fade. I am thankful for the bond she developed with Sydney & the lessons she taught her. We will miss her dearly.

As I write this now, my mind is currently like a pinball machine. It keeps going from one side to the other. State Fair is just days away and I am just not prepared for it. Sydney will be showing 4 pigs and 1 goat in the 4-H part of our state fair. Then, her & Jackson will show their heifers in the open show. We will be gone for for an entire week...and I just don't know how I feel about it!

Right after state fair, we head into starting school. I am looking forward to slowing down and getting back to our school routines, yet a big part of me is wanting to hold onto summer. My kids have truly grown so much this summer & I just don't want it to end.

Fall is just around the corner & we have a lot of litter planned. I absolutely can't wait. It will be really quite around her for the next two months until the first litter arrives. If you are interested in adding a furry friend to your family, reach out! We are just super excited for more puppies. If I think I am busy now with planning for a week at the Iowa State Fair...just wait til we have 4 or 5 litters at once! I absolutely can't wait!

Here's to surviving the Iowa State Fair & the beginning of the school year & waiting on our new litters...

What I am Reading & Watching

A new series by one of my favorite authors. I am listening to this book & I must say...it doesn't disappoint. The main character is Travis DeVine and is a former Army Ranger turned Wall Street.

I haven't turned on our TV at all this month...maybe this month I can watch something.

Watch for another Giveaway!

I had planned on getting a giveaway put together for July, but it just didn't happen. With the Iowa State Fair just days away & then straight into school... I am not sure it will happen this month. I promise I got a good one coming though!

Back to School Schedule

...for your pet

Routine & Schedules? I live & breath them. I love them....do you want to know why?

We absolutely need them. We crave them & it makes life easier for everyone...including your furry friends. Summertime schedules are filled with late nights, lazy mornings & lots of couch time.

What that means is that puppies & dogs are just like kids...they aren't going to bed on time, not spending much time in their kennels, & getting extra treats. For some dogs, the transition back into school routines are seamless, for others they may struggle.

With school starting back soon for everyone, here are my top tips that will help your crew get back into that routine:

  • Mark on your calendar, at least two to four weeks before heading back to school as your start date. If you have an older dog, you will want to change your summer routine at a slower pace, because sometimes they struggle with change.

  • Evaluate your back to school schedule & routine and figure out how it is different from your currently summer routine

  • Get up early & take your dog on a longer walk than normal.

  • Start extending the time between potty breaks

  • Extend or restart kenneling

  • Purchase some new toys for the kennel

It is very possible that abrupt changes can lead to stress & anxiety in your pet. With this tips as a starting point, you can ease into a new routine that is beneficial for everyone.

When we send puppies home, we send a sample of our favorite pet shampoo from Monat. I signed up to be a Market Partner 5 years ago when they launched and believe in all their products 100%

I used their haircare and skincare line. So does Sydney and Jackson. Wade still uses Melaleuca...it's about the only thing that gets piggy smells out, LOL!

If you are interested in getting some or the spray, here is a link.
