Supporting Catholic education has always been an important advocacy of NCBWL. Since the league's founding in 1950, it has donated approximately $465,000 toward girls' scholarships -- a truly remarkable feat! We are still tabulating our numbers and we'll keep you posted as soon as the results become available. After last month's Pearls of Wisdom Evening for Education, we are headed to St. Ann Catholic school for our regular monthly meeting. For the month of October, we are highlighting St. Ann in honor of the church and school's Centennial Celebration. We hope you can join us for our meeting and dinner. |

SPEAKERS 'The state of Catholic education in today's world -- and how St. Ann is thriving" Anna Rumfola, Principal Judy Graham, 5th-8th Grade Teacher |
|
|
We are excited to hear from these two ladies whose daily work and dedicated service impact St. Ann students in more ways than we could ever imagine. It will be interesting to hear about the challenges educators currently face. Anna Rumfola is St. Ann's school principal, and she'll be joined by Judy Graham, 5th-8th Grade teacher and this year's awardee of Christ the Teacher Award given by the Diocese of Nashville Catholic Schools Office. What an remarkable distinction and great honor! Our meeting will be held at Breen Hall. Mix and mingle at 5:00 PM, meet and dine at 6:00 PM. Please invite your fellow parishioners and friends and share the mission of the league, or bring back inactive members so we'll continue to grow. |

OUTREACH BOOK'EM For our October Social Outreach, we will be collecting children's books for Book'em. They collect new, like-new, and very gently used children’s books in great condition - from board books to chapter books (ages 0-18). Now is the perfect time to clean out those bookcases and share some of your favorite books with kids who need them! If you would like to find out more about how you can volunteer for this program, click here. To learn more about Book'em, please visit https://bookem-kids.org. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Lynne Warne “God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing.” (Ephesians 2:1) We will spend all of eternity serving God in heaven. He wants us to practice by serving other people on Earth through our good works. Our 2022 Pearls of Wisdom co-chairs Lisa Link and Nikki Moreland used their God-given talents to do good works — and set new records for the NCBWL scholarship fund! We’re still working on the final accounting for our event, but I can confidently report that we will exceed our net goal of raising $60,000. That means we will be able to write checks of $20,000+ for each of the three Catholic high schools! - CONTINUE - |

We are still tabulating the final numbers from our Pearls of Wisdom 2022 Evening for Education, but it looks like another record-breaking year! |

It appears we have exceeded our goal of raising $60,000! Thank you so much everyone for supporting our recent scholarship fundraiser Pearls of Wisdom 2022 Evening for Education! The event benefits the Aurelia Varallo Mariani Scholarship. Held at the beautiful Bishop's Hall at the Catholic Pastoral Center on September 10, our first nighttime event featured fabulous live auction items to the excitement of our generous bidders, donors and guests! Dinner by the Clean Plate Club was delicious, enlivened with an open bar with spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages provided by Ajax Turner, Athens, and Best Brands; not to mention the Whiskey Tasting Experience where everyone had an opportunity to sign up and enjoy 8-12 pours from amazing whiskeys from around the world at The Whiskey House. |
