The Story of our Jute Tote
The Jute Tote is both sustainable and durable. With it's leather handles and metal rivets, they cary over 90 pounds and are 100% biodegradable.
Jute is a fast growing field crop with high carbon dioxide (CO2) absorbtion rate. Jute plants clean the air by consuming large quantities of CO2, which is the main cause of the greenhouse effect.
The mission of this cooperative is to create Eco-friendly products, and to support women and their families in Bangladesh. The lives of rural women belonging to this cooperative are improved by providing employment, literary classes and training on nutrition, women's legal rights and finance. When women are empowered, the community as a whole is transformed and livelihoods are improved. This makes life more enjoyable and sustainable. More income means education, nutritious food, and access to medical services.
