Hello and welcome to my brand new accessible travel newsletter! Today I have a new post with FREE accessible travel resources exclusively for my subscribers – more on that below.
My plan is to send the newsletter fortnightly, full of tips, reviews, news, and information all about travel for disabled people. If there’s a particular day and time that you’d prefer to receive the newsletter, please get in touch to let me know.
You may think that I’ve chosen an odd time to launch this newsletter, with so many disabled people still shielding and anxious about travel - today Disability Horizons have released a survey concluding that 58% of disabled and chronically ill people feel anxious about the easing of lockdown rules. Well, easing that anxiety is exactly what I want to help with.
What’s it like to travel on buses and trains as a disabled person during the Coronavirus pandemic? Wheelchair user Shona Cobb guest blogs for Carrie-Ann Lightley, telling us all about her experience of travelling to London on public transport in a powerchair, in the era of COVID-19.
Later this week I’m launching my new series of #SafeAccessibleTravel interviews. I’ve interviewed hotels and holiday cottages across the UK, to show what measures they’ve put in place to make things safe post-lockdown. The interviews cover everything from cleaning procedures and COVID safe training, to flexible booking policies and what’s open locally.
In case you missed it – I wrote a guide to planning an accessible trip this year as lockdown eases for The Sun newspaper.
