Hello from the studio. I have been eager to show the world a little bit of what my studio table has brewing. It often feels a little raw to share sooner than the work agrees to. But if it's still on the table and not hung with lighting, maybe it doesn't count? Like a studio visit. I've really put focus into locating that middle ground between my watercolor work and my encaustic work. Pushing those edges of printmaking processes with layered photographic halftones. Seeing how I can take it a step further and make them loose, washy, textured by the hand and the nuances of laid watercolor. How those delicate layers of color washes and little pools of tinted water dissolve the perfection of a ben day dot, but still give a veil of image. This is where I'll be messing around for a while. Let's see how far I can stretch this way of working before it all collapses. Glorious undoing! I have work set to be published upon beautiful pages and going up on fabulous walls of galleries in NorCal. If you find yourself around Oakland or Los Gatos at the right time, stop in and see whats happening. Info below. For those who can't make it into the galleries, my website has been updated with newer work, and more new pieces from Summer will be added soon. Also, I'm gearing up to start teaching a few workshops again ...in the coming year. Both printmaking and experimental drawing. If that's something that sounds interesting, keep in touch + feel free to pass this along to anyone else who may be interested. *Warmest Wishes* Karen |
