Musical Talks
This spring's performances include several lectures in addition to concerts. Most recently, I spoke about Manuel Ponce, Frederico Moreno Torroba, Agustin Barrios and the idea of legacy during a pre-concert talk for the John E. Marlow Guitar Series.
Earlier in January, I gave a presentation for the Boulanger Initiative, a newly-founded non-profit in the Washington DC area whose mission is to promote music composed by women through performance, education and commissions. I spoke about several great women in the history of classical guitar who were players as well as composers. During Women's History Month, I will give similar talks at the Walkersville and Washington County Free Libraries in Maryland (See program description below). These educational events are presented in partnership with Marlow Guitar International.
In April, I will travel to Canada for the Toronto Guitar Weekend where I will give a talk celebrating Ida Presti as a solo performer and composer of works for solo guitar. Other speakers and performers for the festival include Berta Rojas, Mariette Stephenson, Bokung Byun and Brent Crawford. I am very excited to be included in this wonderful group of musicians.
