Greetings Fellow Patriots! My team and I had another busy month planning and executing our big fundraiser – the Lincoln Day Dinner(LDD), which was held on June 3rd at the Double Tree Hilton in Greenwood Village. It was a SOLD OUT event and I think everyone had a great time! Radio personality Jimmy Sengenberger was our guest emcee and Tom Baker, acclaimed author of the best selling book, "The Fall of the FBI" was the Keynote Speaker. Danielle Jurinsky assisted with the Live Auction and challenged Centennial City Council members to join in on the Live Auction Prizes. “Dinner for Four with Aurora City Council’s Fab 4” became “Dinner for Four with Aurora City Council’s Fab 4 PLUS 4 from City of Centennial”!! On top of that, they persuaded the group to host two dinners for two prize winners, which doubled the donations for our AC-GOP Candidates! I had the honor of naming this year’s recipient of the Dorothy Vogt Award, which recognizes a past Republican Arapahoe County elected official who served with great distinction on behalf of the County. The 2023 Dorothy Vogt Recipient is none other than Nancy Sharpe. You can see more about Nancy’s distinguished service to Arapahoe County below. I must admit – I had some extra fun at the Dinner, by getting to make some music. My daughter, Dani Rowland, and I sang the National Anthem and one of my favorite duets. Jimmy Sengenberger (harmonica player extraordinaire) and Stephanie Hancock (candidate for Aurora City Council Ward 4) joined in with me for some closing music and many of the group sang along! It is an honor and a privilege to serve our beautiful county as your Chair. We have so many great hard workers and committed elected leaders in the Party – all serving together to protect our values and freedoms. The success of our Lincoln Day Dinner will help us give our candidates their best chance of winning this Fall and next. I want to give HUGE THANKS to the LDD Steering Committee and their many volunteers, led by Lynne Cottrell. I also want to thank everyone who came, and donated, and celebrated together. |

Nancy Sharpe Wins Prestigious Dorothy Vogt Award |
Nancy Sharpe began her public service to Arapahoe County years ago on the Planning and Zoning Commission of Greenwood Village. Next, she was elected to the City Council, and later became the Mayor. That apparently wasn’t enough service, so she ran for and became a County Commissioner and served for 12 years. This past December, Commissioner Sharpe was honored by Human Services directors from around Colorado for her work advancing health and human services programs. In the 12-years as commissioner, she served on local and state committees, including: National Association of Counties, Human Services and Education Steering Committee Colorado Counties, Inc, Health and Human Services Steering Committee Governor Appointee, Colorado Executive Leadership Council on Child Welfare, the Works Allocation and Child Welfare Allocation Committees Colorado Elder Abuse Taskforce, Governor’s Appointee
Nancy’s friends say that one key to her successful leadership is that she “listens carefully and takes what is said to heart. She’s very generous with her time.” Arapahoe County is lucky to have had Nancy's leadership! |

The Danger of the FBI’s Woke Culture by Guest Author, Thomas J. Baker* |
*Former FBI Special Agent Baker was the honored guest speaker at the sold out Lincoln Day Dinner hosted by the Arapahoe County Republican Party on June 3. Last Month, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, sent a subpoena to FBI Director Christopher Wray demanding documents relating an internal FBI proposal targeting traditional Catholics. The documents will show – some have already been disclosed online – not only an FBI that has drifted away from its law enforcement moorings, but the pernicious influence of woke ideology on its agenda. The principal document in question is a paper by an Intelligence Analyst (IA) dated January 23, 2023, on Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists (RMVE) and their interests in “Radical-Traditionalist Catholics” (RTC). The analyst assesses with “high confidence” the FBI can mitigate the threat of Radical-Traditionalist Catholics by recruiting sources within the Catholic Church. The new acronym RTC is explained as “typically characterized by the rejection of the Second Vatican Council.” The fact that our FBI even has such an acronym is itself very scary. The IA makes an illogical leap that a preference for the Mass in Latin instead of the vernacular and other traditionalist views amount to an “adherence to anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ, and white supremacist ideology.” No evidence is presented of any violent rhetoric by these Catholics, much less violent acts. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is cited as a source for the IA’s beliefs. SPLC asserts RTCs “embrace extremely conservative social ideals with respect to women,” something that is in the eye of the beholder. And nothing reported by the SPLC indicates instances of violence by these traditional Catholics. The IA’s woke bias is manifest in a fixation on abortion. The woke phrase “abortion rights” is repeatedly used in this analysis. These traditional Catholics are a concern because of an “hostility towards abortion-rights advocates.” The IA speculates about an increase in RMVE interactions with RTC, which leads to the suggestion of mitigation strategies, including recruiting Confidential Human Sources (“source development”), tripwire, and liaison contacts. In another potential intrusion into First Amendment protections, the document implies a strategy of monitoring social media for RTC ideology in online posts. We already know from the Twitter files that today’s FBI has waded dangerously close to violating the First Amendment’s guarantee of free speech, now it is that amendment’s protection of religion that is being endangered. This is likely the principal concern of Jim Jordan’s committee. Speaking at the National Review Institute’s Ideas Summit on March 31, former Attorney General William Barr pointed out that fear of the woke mob is widespread in today’s FBI. He is someone who knows of what he speaks. Any solution to the FBI problem, he tells us, needs to be addressed “on a cultural level.” Barr suggests structural change as a catalyst for “reclaiming some of the culture.” Barr’s recognition of the woke influence on the Bureau and its other cultural problems differs markedly from the position taken by the current Bureau and its director, Christopher Wray, who see only a series of individual errors and mistakes. In recent years, when shenanigans have been discovered at the Bureau, malefactors are shown the door. The subsequent theme from Wray has been essentially the “bad apples are no longer with us.” In this instance he asserts that the IA’s work product “does not reflect FBI standards.” The reluctance by Bureau management to look beyond these transgressors to the underlying cultural issues is troubling and is now made worse by the pernicious influence of the woke agenda. The Bureau’s problem began with a cultural shift by former Director Robert Mueller in the immediate post 9/11 era, which was exacerbated by the poor leadership of his hand-picked successor, James Comey. As Barr put it to his National Review audience, “Mueller and Comey threw the baby out with the bath water.” Removing agent executives, they brought in outside professionals to take over key headquarters positions—losing long-term commitment and an invaluable knowledge of the institution and its culture. The professionals didn’t have the institutional knowledge of career agents, nor the grounding in the constitution. Another part of the cultural change begun under Bob Mueller was the elevation of the position of Intelligence Analyst (IA). Current agents complain that the IAs are “driving the agenda.” The analysis targeting traditionalist Catholics as possible domestic terrorists, noted the document had been approved by a supervisory analyst and the division’s principal legal advisor. That was initially disappointing, as in the past the principal legal advisor was always an agent. Most field division’s principal legal advisors are now non-agents. Traditionalist Catholics might not be the only target of this woke thinking. The door is now open to targeting other religious practices, which are based on widespread Christian positions on social issues. It could lead to the same analysis for any traditional Christian group or even orthodox Jews. The cultural change at the Bureau combining with the woke agenda is very dangerous. If Americans expect to enjoy the protections of the Bill of Rights, our FBI needs to turn away from freewheeling woke intelligence speculations and return to its roots in fact based law enforcement. |

The Ethiopian Community Loves Conservatism and Arapahoe County by Amsalu Kassaw, Organizer and Leader |
My name is Amsalu Kassaw and I was born and educated in Ethiopia. I now live in Aurora. In 2006 my social and political activism in Ethiopia forced me to flee my country and to come to the US as a political asylee. I then became a Naturalized Citizen of this great nation of America! Here I am, a proud new American. It feels so good to practice the American dream. This country gave me a lot. I am married and have three beautiful children, all born here in Aurora Colorado. I am a lifelong activist who is dedicated to promoting human rights in Ethiopia, as well as a community organizer here in Aurora working to better the lives of Ethiopian immigrants in Colorado. “It feels so good to practice the American dream.” Colorado is home to a large population of Ethiopian immigrants. Nearly 40,000 Ethiopians live in the Aurora and the Denver Metro area. The Ethiopian diaspora is recognized as a recent migration into Colorado, but Ethiopians have a longer history in the state of Colorado than people may realize. The first major influx of immigrants and refugees from Ethiopia began after the Socialist Derg military junta took place in 1974 and lasted for over a decade. You may not know that Ethiopia has some of the oldest Christian, Jewish, and Muslim sects in the world.
"Nearly 40,000 Ethiopians live in the Aurora and Denver Metro area." As immigrant families began to settle into our new communities in Colorado, we Ethiopian Americans founded many churches like St. Mary’s Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Our church, St. Mary’s served not only the need of community and religious practice for local Ethiopian Americans but we church leaders also organized events to aid those back in Ethiopia facing a 21st century drought. Today we actively and enthusiastically participate in civic activity on local and national issues.
After joining the Ethiopian American Community in Colorado 2007, I successfully helped organize the Ethiopians Diaspora who were exiled around the world. I was a member of an advocacy group working with different grassroot organizations to bring awareness to the struggles of displaced Ethiopians. Our groups supported good governance and democracy in Ethiopia and we provided much needed humanitarian aid to the victims of my origin country of Ethiopia.
Ours is a very vibrant and very diverse community. It has really been one of the most successful Ethiopian diaspora communities in the state of Colorado. Today, the number of Ethiopian American voters in Colorado is approaching the number of Hispanic voters here in Colorado.
I am passionate about the Ethiopian American community. I have served in many different capacities for decades including being a proud co-founder of the Ethiopian American Civic Council (EACC), a nonprofit that works to advance the human rights, political, educational, social, and economic interests of Ethiopian-Americans. As a first-generation Ethiopian-American I am involved in many social & political activities. Currently, I am the Secretary and Public Relations Director for the EACC. I have the passion to help this community locally and globally by organizing and advocating for policies that improve conditions for immigrant and underserved minority groups.
I used to be an independent voter and mostly voted for Democrats as did most Ethiopian immigrants. However, the Ethiopian-American community began to realize that democrats are the worst for our community values. "Democrats are good at selling their politics but in practice they are against Ethiopian-American interests in many aspects." For example, President Joe Biden and his White House team worked hard opposing the Ethiopian government and now risks expanding the country's internal struggle into a wider civil war that threatens Ethiopia and regional stability. The White House supports the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) a leftist Marxist group designated by the US in 1990 as a terrorist group. The TPLF previously ruled the country for 27 years and got forced out by a popular upraising in 2018. But it is coming back thanks in part to the Biden people. The US Administration wanted the new government to fail and the country to be divided. (sound familiar?) They support the TPLF dictator in Ethiopia. The administration’s same foreign policy that failed in Afghanistan has been applied to the Sudan including Ethiopia with the same terrible results and now the region, and to a ever-growing extent, the world, is no longer safe under the Biden administration. This Democrat administration has demonstrated it doesn't cares neither about the Ethiopian people nor peace and stability in the region. Because of that, the American noble values of democracy and human rights have failed. "We need a strong leader that cares about and projects American values!" Locally, our Democrat congressman Jason Crow is no better. He always supports and echoes the Democrat Administration. He didn't want to hear from our community about doing the right thing in Ethiopia. We used to support our elected Democratic leaders, but as I said, our community has figured out that Democrats are not with the people but only with the money and getting the vote. "Democrats have been using our community and taking it for granted." As a leader of our community, I want to stop that neglect and disrespect of our voices by engaging, listening to and talking with my community about the issues that matter to them. And then take action to make things better. "Overall, I want to be the bridge between the Abraham Lincoln party of Republicans and the African immigrant community." Because of that, I have changed my voter affiliation to the Republican Party. I am a social conservative and a community activist. Aurora is diverse and deserves smart and capable leadership that reflects our community. One thing that I learned from working with people in the Republican party; they are very honest and value not only our Ethiopian-American community but all communities. Feeling the PAIN yet? Denver Plummets in 'Best Places To Live' In U.S. News & World Report's just published survey results, Denver dropped 44 places to No. 99 in the 2023-24. see survey Denver in Decay – US News and World Report “Best Places to Live” Rankings 2020-2021: Denver is No. 2 2022-2023: Denver falls to No. 55 2023-2024: Denver plummets to No. 99!
The main reason for falling off the "livability" cliff? Affordability! Who knew? “Denver is becoming one of the most expensive places to live in the entire country,” stated the report's author. Denver is the 16th most expensive place to live in the U.S, according to the report's index. U.S. News & World Report's data shows the cost of Denver's median home stands at $642,437, compared to the U.S. average of $365,616.
…but don’t despair, Colorado still ranks No. 1…in CRIME Colorado is one of the Nation's MOST DANGEROUS STATES! Colorado Ranks at the TOP IN THE NATION FOR CRIME! #1 Auto Theft in the Nation #1 Violent Crime Victimization among 22 most populous states #2 Property Crime Victimizations #2 Fentanyl Death Rate Increase in last 2 years (up 382%) #3 Fastest Increasing Crime Rate in the Nation #4 Recidivism Rate (repeat offenses) in the Nation

Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" written in 1775 and distributed in 1776, did more to unify and solidify colonists’ sentiments for an independent America than did any other writing. Paine became the voice of the revolution. His 47-page pamphlet, the 18th century equivalent of today’s paperback book, was entitled “Common Sense.” It was published in 1776 and went viral selling over 500,000 copies throughout the colonies, with many more probably bootlegged into circulation. Those two words, "Common Sense" fit one of Paine’s most important notions, that Americans should trust their feelings and personal experiences, rather than get bogged down in theoretical political debates. He knew people weren’t thinking in the abstract about their circumstances, but were concerned with what mattered in their individual lives. Paine understood that philosophical arguments weren't as powerful as emotion and direct experience. Paine urged people to embrace "common sense," and trust their own common sense about what was right and just, and how the country should be run, just as they did with their other everyday decisions. He wrote for the common person, his peers, in straight-forward, plain language that everyone understood. No matter what their status, people recognized themselves in his words. His Common Sense pamphlet was so influential that most people thought it was the principle revolutionary document, not the Declaration of Independence. Footnote: Thomas Paine had an agreement with his first publisher that his share of profits would be used to buy mittens for the American soldiers stationed in Canada. *Shortest Definition of Common Sense: The true understanding of cause and effect. Let's Make Colorado a "Sanctuary State for COMMON SENSE" from The Arapahoe Conservative Activist |
Right now it is simple and easy to explain to friends, neighbors, and people in the line at the grocery store why they should vote Republican. People are really feeling the pain, as shown in the Painometer above. Some would say the Painometer reads low – so many people are leaving Denver and Colorado because the pain is just unbearable. We need a return to Common Sense as Thomas Paine so convincingly advocated in his famous revolutionary pamphlet. Our political leaders have designated Colorado as a "sanctuary state for illegal immigrants." Let's alter that phrase and make Colorado a "Sanctuary State for Common Sense!" - Where Common Sense is alive and well and thrives! - Our metro area has plummeted in the “livability” index as prices climbed – and that was even before the property tax increases! In return for the high prices, at least we are rated #1 among cities; unfortunately that’s #1 in auto theft and violent crime! People are scared, and also worried by sudden unexplained deaths, and angered by censorship of questions. And they can’t help but notice Colorado is ruled by Democrats. Let's give these people hope! Let's show them who to stand with. Let's all tell them we're with the party that understands Common Sense. Here are some talking points for you to share and say to persuade others: You have a right to choose your own eggs, cookstove, car or lightbulb. As long as outlaws have guns, we have to be able to defend ourselves. We accept people as God made them; we don’t demand gender change. We care for everyone and all ages, from conception to natural death. You have the right to your own beliefs, and to express them. Law applies regardless of who you’re connected to. You own your body - bureaucrats don’t. You know and choose what’s best for your kids. Teachers and "educrats" don’t. Just as bankers count our cash in front of us, so our ballots should be counted in front of us. Like you, we believe in Common Sense - lessons learned from our own personal experience.
Some will say the Republican Party hasn’t stood up for these things in the past. Then you can say, "That’s why I got involved, to get the party standing up for what I care about." "Join me!" *Visit the Arapahoe Conservative Activist's website to see more including a calendar of upcoming school board meetings around the county click here. |

Your 2nd Amendment - FACTS YOU CAN USE - |
Democrats have been gun-grabbing for decades. In fact the Democrat controlled Colorado Legislature just passed a number of new laws intended to strip away our Second Amendment rights. Democrats use every mass shooting as a lever to try and wrest guns out of American hands and overturn the Second Amendment. Yes, gun violence is a problem in America, but it’s not the guns, it’s the criminals who are responsible along with the Democrats who pamper them. |

Join us in appreciating the music and messages of these timeless performances that may be new to you. Enjoy. The Buena Vista Social Club Before the Cuban Revolution in 1959 when Fidel Castro took power, the Cuban music scene was one of the most vibrant in the world. In the 1940's and 50's, the American Mafia, in collusion with a corrupt Cuban government, transformed Havana into one of the world's most sophisticated and cosmopolitan international entertainment destinations. In that era, palatial hotels and ritzy casinos soon became legend and attracted the Hollywood elites, US elected officials and American musicians. But then in 1959 time stopped in Cuba. Music was always at the center of everything. Cuba and its multi-ethnic culture was a melting pot of the descendants of the slave trade from Africa, Spain and other islands in the Caribbean including Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The peoples of all these cultures brought their music with them - rhythmic drumming from Africa, the guitar and folkloric melodies from Spain, brass instruments and their influences from Europe. Indigenous Cuban music flowed and flowered from the 1800's forward blending sounds reflecting the diverse origins of the population. Flirtatious, mesmerizing, alluring, mysterious, uplifting, this mind and soul-feeding music has been and continues today to be one of the great influences on world music. Growing out of these rhythms, Cuba is also home to the rumba, samba, conga, chacha, salsa and their many variations. Cuba's legendary musical heritage began to die after Castro assumed power in 1959. It was almost gone by 1996 - when a miracle happened. Renowned American guitarist Ry Cooder and Nick Gold, a British world culture music producer, met in Havana to record and produce two Afro-Cuban albums featuring local musicians together with some from Mali, West Africa. The Africans didn't show, reportedly because of Visa problems. So, Cooder and Gold changed plans. A local folk revivalist, drummer and band leader, Juan De Marcos Gonzalez had assembled a group of old and younger musicians he called the "Afro Cuban All Stars" and collaborated with Cooder and Gold to expand the group to include former elder musical celebrities with an idea to recapture the now almost mythical "lost" music of pre-revolutionary Havana. They started searching the streets for legends from that bygone era who were still living but no longer performing. Surprisingly many of the musical icons, although all in their late 60's, 70's and 80's had survived. Here are some of the most prominent with their ages at the time of the 1996 recording: Compay Segundo, legendary guitarist and singer joined bands in the 1920's; age 89 Rubén González, virtuoso pianist Ry Cooder calls "Greatest living pianist"- age 79 Pio Leyva, singer "El Montunero de Cuba"; age 79 Ibrahim Ferrer, singer, "Cuban Nat King Cole"; age 69 Omara Portuondo, singer, "Queen of Cuban Music" and "Fianceé of Feeling"; age 66 Manuel Licea, singer; age 69 Orlando "Cachaíto" López, bassist; age 63 Amadito Valdés, percussionist, age 50 |
The members of the musical ensemble named the group after the neighborhood member's club in the Buenavista (beautiful view) quarter of Havana, a popular music venue in the 1940's. They became the Buena Vista Social Club. |
They recorded multiple albums at the famous EGREM studios in downtown Havana. The rest is history - chart topping singles around the world, a Grammy nomination, touring venues throughout the U.S. and Europe with performances at Carnegie Hall and the White House, an album that became a global phenomenon selling 12 million copies, an Emmy award winning documentary by Wim Wenders that features interviews with the musicians in their native Cuba - and many, many more awards and honors. Sadly, most of the group’s aging stars are no longer with us. But the timeless, magical music that created the Buena Vista legend lives on. |
