April Tiger Tales

A Message from The President

Every April, when I am sitting with our calendar mapping out the summer, I try to remember that there are still 8 weeks of school left. It feels confusing - like time is flying by, but also dragging a little. As we approach the end of 2022-23, I hope all of our CSE PTA families take a minute to reflect on what an amazing year it's been, and help our students and school finish out strong!

We are so grateful for your support with the Apex Fun Run in March! With over $90K in proceeds, we will be able to enhance our outdoor areas with high-quality playground activities and games, build up a reserve to install shade cover for the special services playground area, and fund many of the programs and support that CSE PTA provides to our school from now into 2023-24. Thank you to our families, our teachers, and our students for their leadership!

You may recall that last year, CSE PTA achieved status as a National PTA School of Excellence, for growing family engagement in advocacy. This year, we have continued that focus by informing our membership about local issues like the DSISD bond election, and advocating at the state level with Texas PTA Rally Day. Please stay engaged by getting informed and voting in the upcoming May 6th local election, which includes two seats for the DSISD Board of Trustees (look for details soon about a PTA-hosted candidate forum), as well as another school bond referendum.

Have a great April!

We raised a total of $90,731 for our school from APEX Fun Run!

We could not do this event without the support of our families, our teachers, our community, our business sponsors and of course, our amazing kids! We are incredibly grateful to each and every one of you! Proceeds will go towards enhancing our outdoor learning areas and classroom support.

Our next PTA general membership meeting is Friday, April 21 at 8:30am in the cafeteria immediately following the CSES volunteer appreciation breakfast at 8am. Voting will take place at this meeting for our 2023/2024 PTA Executive Board. Please RSVP below if you'll be attending.

Nominations for the 2023/2024 PTA Executive Board closed on April 1. The CSES PTA Nominating Committee is currently reviewing nominations for all elected positions and will propose a slate to serve as next year's board. The following positions are eligible for nominations:

- President

- VP Membership

- VP Fundraising

- VP Hospitality

- VP Programs

- VP Enrichments

- Secretary

- Treasurer

Here’s more info on how the process works:

The positions listed above are elected by you, the General Membership. Terms are one year and our bylaws state that a person can hold the same position for a maximum of two terms. Each spring, a Nominating Committee forms and they submit one recommendation for each position to General Membership. Other nominations can be taken from the floor at the election meeting. Then the nominees are voted into positions to serve for the following school year. Since current VP of Enrichments have served one year, she is still eligible for her same positions again, but will be part of the formal nomination/election process. Nominees must be current members of the PTA.
