Great News Ahead!

We hope that you have all had a nice start to 2021 so far. We do have some exciting news to share with you all, so please read ahead to get our most recent updates.

Covid-19 Vaccination date confirmed

During this week, we received a call stating that our residents and staff would receive the first vaccination against Covid-19 on Saturday 23rd January 2021. This is excellent news and we have spent the last few days preparing for our vaccination day.

We will have three vaccinators in the building who will vaccinate our residents in the morning and the early afternoon. Staff members working on Saturday will then receive their vaccine, followed by staff members not on shift in the afternoon.

We then hope to be told when our second dose will be administered. As soon as we receive this news, we will update our website and also include the information in a newsletter.

What do the vaccinations mean for visits?

We have been told that once we receive the second dose of the vaccine (in 4-12 weeks time), we may be able to start physical visits again. This is what we were told, but we have to wait for the Government to confirm this.

However, it is very encouraging to hear that we may be able to start physical visits in the not too distant future. If and when we receive further updates regarding this, we will make sure it is included in our newsletters.

Proxy Medication orders

We are currently in the process of changing our medication order procedure. We have been selected for a pilot scheme to order our medications online through a secure system.

We have been completing the paperwork since mid December and we are hoping to begin the new orders from February onwards. We have spent time contacting families to receive consent to move to the new system and the feedback has been fantastic, so thank you all for your input.

This should streamline the medication ordering process and we consider this to be an exciting development for our Home. We are proud that Shannon Court was chosen to be part of this pilot scheme.

Please note that this scheme is only available to residents who have Dr Zarrouk as their GP.

Thank you once again for joining our mailing list. We hope to see you all again soon and stay safe!
