Exploring Science & Inspiration: A Day at the Tellus Science Museum with Omega Lamplighters Mentoring Program

In March, The Bridge Builder Collective joined forces with the Kappa Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. to orchestrate two enriching sessions for the Omega Lamplighters Mentoring program.

The month kicked off with a dynamic virtual session, where mentees and mentors engaged in an interactive Black History Trivia session using Kahoot. The competition was fierce, with participants showcasing their knowledge and enthusiasm for Black history.

Following the trivia session, attendees delved into a thought-provoking discussion on the theme of the month, "Friendship Is Essential to the Soul." The conversation was led by special guest Bro. Winston Tramble, a distinguished Strength Coach with expertise spanning neuroscience and mechanical engineering. With over 14 years of experience, Bro. Tramble shared valuable insights on the significance of friendships and the pivotal role they play in personal development. He emphasized the importance of surrounding oneself with a positive peer group, advocating for relationships built on kindness and positivity.

Congratulations are in order for Rashaun Lawrence, who emerged as the victor in the Black History Trivia competition. Rashaun's impressive performance earns him a well-deserved reward—a $10 Amazon Gift Card to be presented at our upcoming face-to-face session.

But the engagement didn't stop there. Later in the month, The Bridge Builder Collective and the Kappa Iota Chapter came together again, this time for a captivating in-person session at the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, GA. Mentees were treated to a day filled with exploration, learning, and inspiration as they embarked on a self-guided tour of the museum and attended the enthralling "Live Tour of Tonight's Sky" show at the planetarium.

These collaborative efforts between The Bridge Builder Collective and the Kappa Iota Chapter continue to foster growth, empowerment, and camaraderie among the Omega Lamplighters Mentoring program participants. As we look forward to more engaging sessions and meaningful interactions, we celebrate the impact of mentorship and the bonds forged within our community.
