Welcome to the CMIA's Fall 2023 Newsletter. This past summer has been an eventful one. The Center for Media Integrity of the Americas became an independent, not-for-profit organization as of July 1. Our Board of Advisors grew to 35 with three new members. Finally, we conducted our first journalism seminar for 15 mid-career Latin American and Caribbean journalists in June. Check out these and other developments below. Whether a member of the CMIA or just visiting our website, we thank you for your commitment to freedom of the press and high-quality journalism in the Western Hemisphere. |

OUR NEW STATUS The CMIA was launched as a project of the Organization of American States at the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, in June 2022. Our hope was that the project would be successful enough to transition to an independent, not-for-profit organization in the future. In July 2023, thanks to the efforts of our CMIA community, and our hosts at the OAS, we realized that vision. That transition represents our continued commitment to supporting unbiased, independent, ethical journalism in the Americas. Please check us out at our website below. | | |
