Spiritual Practices Guide

Mindful Practices for the Throat Chakra

MINDFUL PRACTICES

Below are some mindful practices you may embrace to bring harmony to the throat chakra. They foster authentic communication, alleviate communication anxiety, enhance self-expression, and encourage active listening. These practices create a balanced, empowered connection between thoughts, words, and emotions. You may think of many more effective methods. Let me know other practices in the comments:

Affirmations

Affirmations are positive statements that reinforce desired beliefs. Examples for the throat chakra:

"I communicate with confidence"

"My voice matters"

"I express myself authentically"

How to Practice - Choose an affirmation that resonates with you. Repeat it daily, either silently or aloud. Reflect on its meaning and let it permeate your thoughts and communication. Write it in your journal, or post-it-notes and place around your workspace or home.

Journaling

Journaling allows you to explore your thoughts and feelings. Write about your communication experiences, challenges, and aspirations.

How to Practice - Set aside time to write in a journal. Reflect on past interactions, your feelings, and any patterns you notice. Write freely, allowing your thoughts to flow. Start a gratitude journal. At the front of the journal write down at least 3 things you are grateful for today. At the back of the journal, write down all of the synchronicities you notice.

Creative Expression

Engaging in creative activities like art, singing, or craft helps you express yourself beyond words.

How to Practice - Choose a creative outlet that appeals to you. Paint, draw, sing, doodle, sew, make a collage of found objects or engage in any artistic endeavour that allows you to convey your feelings and thoughts.

Meditative Breathing

Focusing on breath enhances mindfulness and calms the mind, supporting clearer communication.

How to Practice - Sit in a comfortable position. Inhale deeply through your nose, allowing your chest and throat to expand. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Visualise blue light energising your throat with each breath.

Mindful Speaking

Pay close attention to your words and tone during conversations, promoting conscious communication.

How to Practice - Before speaking, take a moment to consider your words. Speak slowly and clearly, emphasising the importance of thoughtful expression. Be careful of what you wish for, the Universe is always listening!

Chanting or Singing

The vibrational sound of ‘Ham’ can harmonise and balance the throat chakra.

How to Practice - The Sanskrit mantra for the throat chakra is "Ham" (pronounced like the English word "hum"). Chanting this mantra can help activate and balance the energy of the throat chakra, promoting clear communication and self-expression.

Conscious Silence

Embrace moments of silence to allow space for reflection and mindful communication.

How to Practice - Dedicate a few minutes daily to sit in silence and pure awareness. Focus on your breath and observe your thoughts without judgment. This is a very powerful practice and as you embrace this mindfully, you may choose to spend up 24 hours or longer in silence.

Integrate these practices into your daily routine, selecting those that resonate with you. Consistency is key – by nurturing your throat chakra mindfully, you can foster authentic communication and a stronger connection with yourself and others.

September Birthstone

Benefits of sapphire:

Throat Chakra | Wisdom | Clarity | Protection | Tranquillity

Mental Clarity and Focus
Sapphire is thought to enhance mental clarity and focus. It is often used by those who wish to sharpen their mind, improve decision-making, and gain a clearer perspective on complex issues. The stone's calming energy can help organise thoughts and reduce mental clutter.

Spiritual Growth
Known as the "Stone of Wisdom," sapphire is associated with deep spiritual insight and growth. It is believed to open the mind to intuition and inner truths, aiding in the exploration of higher consciousness and spiritual enlightenment.

Emotional Balance
Sapphire brings calmness and balance to emotions. It works to soothe anxiety and stress, promoting inner peace and tranquillity. By stabilising emotional extremes, it helps in maintaining a harmonious state of mind.

Protection and Good Fortune
Sapphire is regarded as a protective stone. It helps to shield the wearer from negative energies and bring good fortune. Many consider it a talisman that wards off envy, harm, and ill intentions.

Physical Healing
Sapphire is also associated with physical healing, particularly concerning eye health and overall vitality. Sapphire can help alleviate eye strain and improve vision, as well as boost the immune system and support overall well-being.

5 Ways to Incorporate sapphire this month:

Gem Water | Sleep | Cooking | Garden | Creativity

Sapphire-Infused Water
Place a sapphire crystal in a glass container filled with distilled water and let it sit under the moonlight overnight. This sapphire-infused water can then be used in your daily skincare routine, as a cleansing spray for your aura, or even added to your bath for an energetic boost.

Sapphire Sleep Ritual
Place a small sapphire crystal in your pillowcase or on your bedside table to promote restful sleep and vivid, insightful dreams. The stone’s calming energy can help alleviate nighttime anxiety and encourage peaceful sleep.

Incorporate Sapphire in Cooking
Use a sapphire gemstone as a decorative item in your kitchen or dining area, infusing the space with its calming and harmonious energy. You can also place it near your cooking ingredients to spiritually enhance the nourishment you prepare.

Sapphire Garden Charm
Bury a sapphire crystal in your garden or place it among your potted plants to promote growth and protection. Sapphire loves to connect with the earth’s energies, supporting the health and vitality of your plants.

Sapphire-Enhanced Creativity
Keep a sapphire crystal on your workspace or in your studio to stimulate creativity and focus. Whether you’re writing, painting, or brainstorming, the presence of sapphire can help you tap into deeper levels of inspiration and originality.

SEPTEMBER YOGA POSE

Goddess Pose | Warrior II

In September, we honour the powerful energy of the Divine feminine with two empowering yoga poses, Goddess pose and Warrior II pose. These poses not only celebrate strength and resilience but also encourage balance, focus, and grace. As you move through these poses, allow yourself to feel grounded, confident, and fully present in your body.

Goddess Pose

(Utkata Konasana)

HOW TO

Start by stepping your feet wider than hip-width apart, about one metre. Raise your arms to the sides at shoulder height. Turn your feet outward at a 45-degree angle and bend your knees, ensuring they align directly over your ankles for stability. Rotate your palms upward, then bend your elbows to 90 degrees so that your palms face inwards toward your head.

Inhale deeply through your nose, drawing in energy, healing, and relaxation as you reach both arms overhead. As you exhale through your mouth, bend your elbows, pulling your fists down alongside your ribs, and strongly say, “Ha!” This action releases tension and channels power and vitality to your core.

 BENEFITS

Strengthens Lower Body

Goddess Pose engages and strengthens the muscles in the legs, including the thighs, glutes, and calves.

Improves Hip Flexibility

The pose opens the hips and groin, enhancing flexibility in these areas.

Builds Core Stability

Holding the pose engages the core muscles, helping to build stability and balance.

Energises the Body

The wide stance and powerful arm movements can invigorate the body, increasing energy levels and promoting a sense of vitality.

Promotes Mindfulness

The pose encourages focus and concentration, helping to calm the mind and reduce stress.

Warrior II

(Virabhadrasana II)

HOW TO

Begin by standing tall with your feet hip-width apart. Step your left foot back, keeping your toes facing forward. Bend your right knee, ensuring it stays aligned directly over your ankle. Extend your arms in opposite directions—your right arm reaching forward and your left arm stretching back.

Focus your gaze over your right fingertips and hold this position for five to ten deep breaths.

It's important to listen to your body and modify the pose as needed. If you feel pain (not just discomfort), consider adjusting your stance or gently releasing from the posture.

BENEFITS

Strengthens Legs and Glutes

Warrior II helps build strength in the legs, particularly in the thighs, calves, and glutes, as it requires the lower body to support the pose.

Improves Balance and Stability Holding this pose challenges and enhances your sense of balance, while also strengthening the core and stabilising muscles.

Increases Stamina and Endurance Maintaining Warrior II for extended periods can boost stamina and endurance, both physically and mentally.

Opens the Hips and Chest

The wide stance and arm extension help open the hips and chest, promoting greater flexibility and range of motion.

Enhances Focus and Concentration By focusing on your breath and gaze during the pose, Warrior II can improve mental clarity, concentration, and mindfulness.
