Median Beautified!
Our "Gateway to Green Valley Median Beautification" project is complete. Since 2022, Beverly Bobbitt has been persistent in discovering how to improve what was once an overgrown neglected Median and she was able to connect with Ruth Tamminga the Director of Green Valley MedianGreen.
They came up with a plan and an estimated budget to improve the Median. At our 2023 Annual Board meeting Homeowners overwhelmingly approved sponsorship of the Median.
A small group including Linda Lewis, Harlan Huckaba, Pat Black, Dawn Perry, Sharon Foster, and Ronnie Hill met with Beverly to select plants and rocks they might like to see in the Median. Dawn suggested a combination of Apache Red and Apache Gold rock which looks outstanding! Thank you all for your contribution.
Beverly and Ruth continued to work together and finalized plans to submit to Pima County for approval that worked within our budget. Bureaucracy being what it is, it was not until October 2023 that plans were approved and the work was completed in February 2024.
A group of volunteers have agreed to water our new plants. Thank you to Ronnie Hill, Ken Humfleet, Linda Lewis, Beverly Bobbitt, Kellee Thorpe, Alliaya Attar, Sharon Foster, Dawn and Cameron Perry.
A big thank you to Beverly Bobbitt and Ruth Tamminga from GVMedianGreen, for their many, many volunteer hours to get this project completed; to Val and his team from Valscapes & Maintenance for a job well done, and to the Homeowners and Volunteers of GVTH5 for their sponsorship and beautification of our neighborhood and the Gateway to Green Valley!
