Dear Friends of MASCP, We wish you all the best in 2024 and thank you for being a part of our Project. More than ever we need our people-to-people relationships as we organize to defend our human rights locally, nationally and internationally. Much is at risk for democracy in both of our countries!! In El Salvador, President Bukele’s State of Exception strips people of their rights and continues with no end in sight. The government has imprisoned over 73,000 people, including some from our sister community of Arcatao. There are detailed reports of torture, medical neglect, and death in prisons. President Bukele is defying the constitution and running for re-election on February 4, 2024. Join us on Wednesday, January 24 at 7pm (CT) for a conversation with CRIPDES, our Salvadoran Sistering partners, to hear about the 1992 Peace Accords and the February 2024 elections in El Salvador. |

Interested in traveling to El Salvador with MASCP? The 2024 MASCP trip to El Salvador is scheduled for June 9-16, 2024. The theme this year is water quality, water rights, and what the world's sugarcane production has to do with water and environmental quality in El Salvador. |

Come to Finca Coffee (2500 Rimrock Rd) January 20, February 17, or March 16 from 10-noon for a great cup of Salvadoran coffee and Salvadoran quesadillas (yum!), visit with friends of MASCP, and learn about the upcoming trip to Arcatao in June 2024. On the trip, we’ll be talking with social justice activists in San Salvador, visiting the organized southern community of Las Anonas where sugar cane is produced and of course, we’ll renew friendships in Arcatao where our sister city is fighting to retain control of their water and avoid privatization. |

In 2023, our trip included Eunice Gibson, in her 80’s, Daniel Quintanilla, not quite 20, and all the decades in between. Anyone is welcome! US El Salvador Sister City Staff will make all the arrangements for us in El Salvador. |

At Finca Coffee, there will be a table reserved for our group. Past MASCP travelers are encouraged to come share their experiences. Old friends and new friends are welcome. It’s an MASCP reunion, discussion and planning meeting for our 2024 trip all rolled into one. See our MASCP 2024 Delegation on our website. |
