Did I Achieve My Goal?

Book 2 Struggles

New Book Blurb

April Bookshelf

Hey Friends!

I hope you're all doing well and enjoying spring. I can't wait for the weather to get warmer here. We're having a pretty cold spring here in Michigan.

This month I worked on revisions of book 2 of my Divine Witches duology for Camp NaNoWriMo and at one point I switched to working on my #ownvoices YA Urban Fantasy.

Find out details below.

The month started out well, and I made great progress with revisions, but then I hit a wall. If you're a fellow writer, you'll understand when I say the messy middle was my downfall this month. I struggled for a while with it and eventually walked away for a couple of days. During that time, I worked on my YA Urban Fantasy project. It helped to step away.

While doing a mundane task I had a breakthrough, and I knew how to fix the messy middle of book 2! But in a way, I still felt like I was stuck and couldn't work on book 2. After taking a break from writing altogether for a couple more days I realized I just needed a break. After taking some time for self care, I worked more on revisions this week, and I'm so happy with how it's coming together now.

In April I added 17k to the manuscript which brings it up to 58k! I may not have finished revising book 2 this month, but I made progress and I'm proud of what I accomplished.

When I started struggling with book 2 revisions, I switched to working on my #ownvoices YA Urban Fantasy and am pretty close to finishing the first draft.

I recently made this new aesthetic after watching Alli Earnest's video about making aesthetics. Alli has some great tips, so be sure to check out her video on YouTube HERE.

I also tried to work a bit more on a short blurb for this book and thought I'd share it with you all. But please keep in mine this is a rough version that could change once I have the entire book written and revised.

BLURB

In present-day Boston, visually impaired, Nori witnesses a grotesque creature attack her sister, Val. Though Nori attempts to help, Val dies and her antique bracelet magically transfers to Nori’s wrist. Soon after, Nori begins to see strange beings no one else can and discovers her sister’s bracelet is actually an ancient Greek artifact with the power to release dangerous atrocities. With the help of a quirky witch, a remorseful vampire, and a mysterious young man, Nori must face a new reality while learning how to defend herself and guard the artifact at all costs from those who plan to use it to wipe out humanity.
