March 2019

Hello to all of our friends and family!

Well, the newness of Spring has started creeping in and out in south Alabama! One day it’s 70, then the next 45! Go figure? We took a few days off last week to go and enjoy northeast Alabama’s mountain views and God’s creation. It is always a joyful time for us to go up there; to have a time of rest and total communion with God in His beauty that surrounds us there. As we grow older, we begin to realize how much more important it is to make sure we draw the Lord into everything that we do and see. It refreshes the mind and renews our spirits. It’s as if He must remind us to slow down and “smell the roses” occasionally, but in this case, it was the daffodils! They were growing wild all over the mountains and it was such a sunny and stunning sight. It always amazes me of how quickly they come up, and how quickly they go away. But, it’s in those short bursts of beauty that we are reminded of the fact that all things are for our pleasure, IF we would just look at it that way. And it’s in those things also that we should be reminded, that life never ceases; it will come around again next year, all in its renewed glory. But, on a deeper level, it reminds us, as humans, that life for us is eternal and will never end!  Hallelujah!

As Spring approaches, and the earth is bringing forth new life, we are encouraged that God is bringing about new things in His people too. We are personally experiencing great expectations for our future and for those we counsel. Some situations are positive, but some are not, and some are just unknown. There are all kinds of life altering situations out there needing answers! It seems though that the cold and gray days of winter can breed restlessness and anxiety, and a need for a new perspective on life. People can become discontented. They want their problems to be fixed. They want their circumstances to change. They want something new… It seems that when they want change so badly, they need to start doing something differently. Right?  So, what is one to do? Do we need to move on to something more fulfilling? Or, should we be looking within ourselves to see if the change is needed there? Or should we just be obedient in what we are doing now and wait?? It could be any of the above, but first we should remember that God has the best plan. Maybe praying for what God wants is what we should do first? (Jeremiah 33:3). Even in the life of Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus asked the Father, “Abba, Father! All things are possible for you; remove this cup from me; yet not what I will, but what You will”. Do we really want what God wants for us? Jesus realized He must do ONLY what God wanted Him to do, and look what happened…He saved the world! It was God’s best laid plan for what He needed done. Do you trust like Jesus did?? Yes, that’s the key… We must trust God and know that He will open the door for our tomorrows in His most excellent way. And it will always be the best plan for our lives! Let’s be still and know, OK? (and ask!) +++   We love you!    Ken and Cindy
