and we're back... by popular demand! Last summer's initiative was such a terrific success—from start to finish! From the enthusiastic Starters who tended kits with commitment and care, to the delighted Growers who appreciated the plants we shared with them at food pantries, to all the supportive program partners in between and the positive media coverage, well, we just HAD to keep it going! This spring, getstarted is thrilled to once again partner with Petaluma Bounty to continue our pandemic-inspired, neighbor-to-neighbor program in big-hearted Petaluma, CA! But not to rest on our laurels or lettuces, we’re also adding some new bells and whistles to the program. Read on for information about our NEW online registration system, expanded kits and even more growing support! |

getting started is even easier this spring! New this spring—you and your friends can now register to be Starters on the website any time before Wednesday, March 31. We’ll have not one, but TWO days for Starters to pick up and drop off their reserved, complimentary Start Kits at Petaluma Bounty. Choose either Saturday or Sunday, April 3 or 4 to pick up your kit and either Saturday or Sunday, May 8 or 9 to bring it back, green and happy, easy peasy. (Or easy green beansy.) We're also expanding the array of plants being grown this season by designing two Start Kits— one for partial and one for full sun. Seed selections were based on surveying local families receiving food assistance— including their interest in receiving edible plant starts, preferred plants and growing conditions— and these two kits will now provide more options to our neighbors to accommodate their specific needs. Remember, no growing experience is necessary— Starters can be experts or amateurs and will not need to plant the kits in the ground. So sign up now! | | |

you asked for it, you got it! Starters and social media followers let us know how much they “liked” the tips and videos we created, so we’re giving you more! 2020 Rock Starter Emma Logan has joined the small but mighty getstarted team, contributing her extensive growing experience, deep connection to food security and artistry to the mix. Emma will be creating an array of new materials to help Starters and Growers get the most out of their kits and growing experiences. In fact, before you even pick up your Start Kit, we'll have a new video on Seeding your Kit, made especially for this spring’s program! Stay tuned... |
