Student Testing Information
At Colorado Christian Academy we are building a school where students consistently show meaningful, authentic, and measurable growth. We believe testing does not define a student nor determines their intelligence or capabilities, but it does provide valuable knowledge about the student. This allows us to accurately construct learning goals, notice growth, and celebrate!
We are constantly thinking about how we put people and processes in place to help students grow in all aspects of their life. Academically, we want students to move as fast as they can in math, literacy, and communication. We have a simple formula on how we aim to do this. If we know each student’s baseline skillset, then target instruction accordingly, it will equal more authentic, meaningful growth (baseline + targeted instruction = meaningful growth).
By establishing the baseline when students enter the school, then re-administer the same test in 2nd, 4th, and 7th grade, we will appropriately discern student growth and effectively adjust academic learning plans. This will help us provide students with the right amount of challenge and support.
Due to COVID our baseline testing has been delayed, but not overlooked. Getting to know your student is vital to a successful learning experience at Colorado Christian Academy. Thus, below are updated testing details.
Testing Details
What
Students will take the Woodcock-Johnson® IV (WJ IV) achievement and cognitive tests. This will provide us with great information about how they learn and where they are at in the foundational skills of literacy, math, and communication. Students will also take a Singapore Math placement test.
Where
Valor Business Office or at Colorado Christian Academy
How
Testing is done in two separate two-hour sessions.
When
Testing begins July 20th and ends July 31st. Tests will be administered by CCA educators as well as trusted third party providers. Let us know if these dates will not work and we will find a different solution.
Once the tests are completed, we will schedule an academic planning meeting. In this meeting we will discuss testing results, learn from you about your desires and hopes for your student, and collaboratively set goals for the school year.
*It is important to schedule your testing sessions as soon as possible to allow time prior to school for the academic planning meeting.
