February may be the shortest month of the year, but we sure have a lot going on at the ACWL-Nuveen! I hope you already have plans to join us tonight for the HUMAN/NATURE Exhibition reception. Artist Tatsuki Hakoyama will be in the gallery and is leading an artist discussion at 6:00pm. We will also have snacks and drinks on hand, so it’s sure to be a wonderful evening. You won’t want to miss this! I hope you’ll also swing by Saturday afternoon to take part in White Lake Wanderland’s Bonfire Trail. ACWL-Nuveen staff and volunteers will be set up in our back courtyard from 2:00 – 4:00pm with a cozy fire, s’more stuff, and materials for snow-painting! |

Next week Wednesday – February 8 – we are hosting a happy hour for LEAD Muskegon – a giving circle of area residents age 50 and younger who support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. If you’re interested in learning more about this group, read this article and drop in to the ACWL-Nuveen on Wednesday between 5:00 and 6:00pm. If you’re an artist or you know an artist – of any age! – be sure to check out our Call for Artists for the 2023 Juried & Youth Exhibitions, which will be held March 17 through April 22. This popular annual show features an adult and youth division. Adult entrants first submit digital images of their artwork via an online portal by February 24 and then the guest juror selects the artwork for the exhibit. Cash prizes are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in both the adult division and in four age categories for the youth division. New this year, we are awarding a Founding Artists Award to one artist in the Juried Exhibition. Honoring founding members of the White River Gallery, this award will be chosen by the ACWL-Nuveen Gallery Committee. Beyond these exciting and entertaining events, we also have a lot of intriguing classes on the schedule. Here’s the inside scoop - classes have been filling up more quickly lately, (Thanks Ian, ACWL-Nuveen Marketing & Events Coordinator!) so don’t hesitate - when you see a class, you’d love to take, sign up! And if the class you want to take is already full, please email me at nuveen@artswhitelake.org. We’ll add you to a waitlist and if someone cancels – or we schedule the same class again – we’ll get in touch. There’s so much to see and so much to do this month - I hope you’ll take part! See you soon! Erin Peyer, ACWL-Nuveen Director |
