We Are Searching For A Diversity Scholar!

Talent and passion are evenly distributed, but opportunity is not. SeaSmart hopes to provide qualified students with an opportunity to explore their interest in ocean conservation, marine biology and SCUBA diving. This scholarship is offered to address the underrepresentation of women and minorities in marine science studies and will award funding to support their participation in the SeaSmart Summer 2021 program.  We're looking for female minority middle and high school students who are a member of a minority group(s). (Including but not limited to: Black, Latina, Native American, LGBTQ+.)  We are excited to hear your unique story! Here's the link to additional information and the application:

February 11th Information Session...

Get the tea on July's trip to Utila!

We have an amazing, unique and very customized ocean conservation, marine biology and SCUBA program planned in Utila for this July, when we will all be ready to get out there and travel and learn in person with local conservationists, biologists and dive professionals. (If you are already SCUBA certified, we have diving for you, too!). Families are welcome, based on availability.

Parents & students are invited to join us through the below zoom link to get more information and to ask questions.  Meet SeaSmart's Executive Director, Lisa McIntyre and Director of Education, Eva Pena, who have curated the program and will accompany students on the trip.

SeaSmart Summer 2021 Utila

Eva Pena, Director of Education In Action!

SeaSmart and the Notre Dame High School Marine Biology Club kicked off the new year together with an invasive species program. These inspiring and super smart high school students participated in learning about the the lion fish, what kind of havoc they are causing and what is being done to address the challenges they present.

Reach out if you would like us to join your classroom, scout or club meeting for a virtual or in person adventure!

Thank you to our Giving Tuesday Donors and Congratulations to our Winner!

We saw some true generosity from donors looking to ensure we can extend our diversity scholarship for this summer's SeaSmart program in Utila.  Thank you to those that are helping to ensure female minority students have access to these important learning experiences and marine & SCUBA education.

Congratulations to one lucky (a lottery was run from among all donors during the Giving Tuesday donation period) donor, (Otis G. from Brooklyn, New York) who received 4 passes to Kalahari's Water Park in the Poconos.

We cannot make these scholarships happen without our generous donors, and continue to accept contributions from those who wish to provide an opportunity for these students to be exposed to the importance of conserving the ocean, experience an opportunity for incredible personal growth, developing leadership and scientific research skills, and becoming empowered by learning to SCUBA dive.
