I am so excited to introduce a live online MBSR class starting 6/29/20
Three things I felt were worth sharing this week! Denise Dempsey, M.Ed.
Mindful Viewing
I have come to love videos by Joshua Becker, one of the original minimalists. This one on The Lost Practice of Rest (6:53) reminds us to tend to one of the pillars of health that can get overshadowed by the driven pace many of us fall into at times. Even when sheltering in place, we may find it hard to switch gears when there's downtime. Give this video a watch if you would like to prioritize quality rest in your life. It may even help you reframe how meditation practice fits in your life.
During times of stress, like during the pandemic, I’ve found it a great help to simplify the way I cook and eat. This is also one of the most valuable things we can do for brain health and healthspan (in contrast to lifespan.) This article from Zen Habits offers tips on ways to do this. My own inspiration this spring has come from book Healthspan Solution, and the authors' related podcast, Science and Saucery. Here's to greater health for all!
Steve James models a grounded, mindful way of meditating that is palpable even through the electronic medium. This 5 minute Meditating on the Body practice by him left me feeling as though I'd experience a much longer meditation - in a good way. Of note, Steve is also doing live “Sit with me” meditation sessions via the Guru Viking youtube channel. He's also on Insight Timer.
Apply mindfulness to challenges, manage stress, live a healthier life, form healthy habits, and receive support for your meditation practice. More info.Email Denise
Have patience with every one, but especially with yourself. I mean, do not be over-troubled about your imperfections, but always have courage enough to rise again when you fall into any of them. - St. Francis de Sales
