Iberia Parish STEM Fest
 
The Iberia STEM Fest was held on January 18, 2024 at New Iberia High School. During the event, students had a spectacular learning experience engaging in STEM activities. Students interacted with STEM professionals and college students as they designed robots, launched rockets, and flew drones.  This event was hosted by the Iberia School District in collaboration with STEM NOLA. 

 Celebrating an Academic Milestone
Congratulations to Ms. Lauren Poirier who recently received a Masters in STEM Education on December, 15 2023. Ms. Poirier is a teacher in our Region 4 Novice Teacher Collaborative (R4NTC). We are proud of you!
 

R4SNC VEX Robotics Competition
 
Region 4 STEM Network Center Vex Robotics Competition was a huge success! It was held on January 13, 2024 at the Northwest High School gymnasium. The event aimed to foster a spirit of collaboration, critical thinking, and innovation, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their technological skills in a competitive environment.
Twenty high school and middle school teams from South Louisiana participated in the robotics game, Over Under. The game tested their ability to strategize, adjust, and execute precise maneuvers while navigating a dynamic playing field.  

The Energize Project  
 
The Energize Project is a Louisiana Department Of Education  funded professional development opportunity, designed to get 6th-12th grade Louisiana public and charter school teachers certified to teach Computer Science 
 
The Energize Project is at no cost, and includes 40 hours of training designed to prepare educators for the Computer Science Praxis Exam. Participants will receive study materials and support, a waiver to cover the cost of the Computer Science (5652) Praxis Content Area exam, and a $350 stipend upon completion. The trainings start March 19th and are offered in both virtual and hybrid formats.

Louisiana Girls Collaborative Project
The STEM Collective for Innovative Louisiana Stakeholders (SCILS) Region 8 LASTEM Center has officially relaunched the Louisiana Girls Collaborative as part of its ongoing state-wide Girls in STEM emphasis.
