SPRING 2023 NEWSLETTER

TRADESHOWS

Both the Calgary Boat and Outdoors Show and the Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen’s Show have gone by successfully, so that means we’ve reached the time of year where the work really gets rolling. Thank you to everyone that took the time to stop by our booth as it is always a pleasure to catch up with the people we already know and to meet future clients. We believe the personal aspect of our business is unique and it plays a huge role in attracting the wonderful clientele we have and keeping outstanding staff coming back each year.

BOAT AND FISH HUT PROGRESS

Quatse 1 is done at the shop and completing sea trials, and the hull for Quatse 2 is already fit with outboards and electronics. The beloved “Aquasport” is retiring this year to make room for the new boats, and although we may have had a few crude nicknames for the vessel, she served us well and did the job for many years.

The new “fish hut” (more like a fish palace) is in place on its new dock and we are completing the final touches to get it up and running. It features a walk-in freezer, ice machine, more space for vacuum sealing and organizing your catch, and an entire section designated to storage for rain gear and other gear/tools we like to keep handy at the dock. The fish cutting tables have been moved under cover, out of the sun and rain, in the middle of the fish hut dock. I don’t know how the guides will maintain that golden brown farmer’s tan now….

THE CABINS AT EAGLE MANOR

Bring-your-own-boaters: Eagle Manor has plenty of space available at the cabins in June 2023. July and August are almost fully booked, but June is also an excellent time of year for fishing and often good weather.

The cabins are available year-round as well for a cozy private getaway, winter Chinook fishing, storm watching, prawning, or other adventures that get you out of the house on those drab winter West Coast days. Give us a call for more inspiring ideas.

GUIDES 2023

We are pleased to see Mike, Terry, Les, Evan, Nick, Neil, and Nico return for another season, with the addition of 2 new guides: Charles and Allister. Allister has 10 years guiding experience under his belt and will be with us part-time this season, and Charles will be our full-time “newbie” with years of fishing and boating experience, but this will be his first year guiding.

We regret to announce that Walter will no longer be guiding. Due to personal health reasons, he has officially retired from the business and will instead spend the summer gardening, fishing for personal pleasure, and spending quality time with his grandkids.

PRICES 2023

For all that are interested, the 2023 pricing is updated on our website at www.quatsinolodge.com.

Prices have increased slightly from 2022 to account for inflation and the rising cost of food and other supplies. We are also committed to enhancing the operation and overall guest experience by making upgrades to our facilities, with some exciting things coming this year.

As mentioned above, for 2023 we will have 2 new welded aluminum boats joining the fleet which will be spacious, comfortable, and equipped with all new components. Our float house has been replaced with a custom built and designed building on a new section of dock, with important operational upgrades including a commercial flash freezer and ice machine to ensure your catch is effectively chilled and frozen solid for transport.

The main building is getting some much-needed renovations too, with all new kitchen countertops and cupboards, some new appliances, expanded laundry facilities and cold storage for food, and a handful of aesthetic changes.

We are excited to share these changes with everyone and looking forward to your feedback!
