Welcome to the May, 2022 Newsletter

There is plenty happening at Litt Park Theatre.  We have been sorting and culling the wardrobe, building a new Theatre Entrance, and rehearsals are well under way for the play Gone to Seed.

The building team, being led by Bernard Holmes, is making good progress.  Bernard is also directing the play Gone to Seed.  Thank you Bernard for leading the building team, and directing the upcoming play.  Watch this space for updates of Gone to Seed.  The play will be onstage in end-August and will coincide with the opening of the new Theatre Entrance.  Many thanks to the committee and volunteers for all the work that they have done.

Club Night was a great success with the entertaining presentation of Lockdown at Little Grimley.  What a delight to hear laughter in the theatre again!

A recent wardrobe clean-out led to a fieldtrip by Toi Ohomai fashion students.  They relished the opportunity to view some of the garments in the wardrobe.  Feedback from Donna Dinsdale, Lead Fashion Tutor:

Kia ora

This visit gave fashion students a rare opportunity to view a historical collection of garments and accessories that captured in-depth design influences across a broad range of fashion eras, construction techniques and textiles……..we all walked away with a piece of fashion history and a broader understanding of the amazing role the Te Puke Repertory Society plays in collating, utilising and looking after this collection.

We look forward to welcoming you all to the new look Theatre Entrance and sharing some more live theatre experiences with our community.

Enacted play reading

held on

Friday 6th May, 2022

This reading was an absolute delight.  From the toilet paper thief, a dyslexic eyeball, tachycardigan to banana cake cake causing a heart attack or was it indigestion.

The audience were fantastic; laughter was frequently heard, sometimes it was loud and raucous.  If the audience was quiet, you knew they were quietly chuckling as shoulders could be seen to be moving.

Colin, thank you for your amazing directorship, and thank you to the cast for a wonderful evens entertainment.  To quote Colin "mistakes were intentional."

I think most of the audience stayed for supper, which was a gourmet delight.  The supper included banana cake and it was good to see those who had a piece were still standing at the end of the evening.

Thank you everyone.  I thoroughly enjoyed my evening.

Joe Morris.
