DAILY IMMUNE MONITORING STUDY Participants Needed! |
We are preparing to run our final cohort for our ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia immune monitoring study! The previous cohort helped us get closer to our recruitment goals, but we still need a few more participants. We have been making great progress with our blood draw study finding causes of ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia. We have made a change to the study going forward that may allow more people to participate. For 2019, we will be doing blood draws only twice a week, and never on weekends. There will be a total of 25 blood draws, twice a week, over about 3 months. The blood draws are pretty small and the visits take about 15 minutes. |
If you are interested in completing the secure, online screener, go to the Qualtrics link below. If you couldn't participate before because the visits were every day, you may wish to fill out the form again and indicate in one of the text boxes you are now interested in participating. Also, if you want to learn more about the study, you can go to youtube and search for "Why do we take blood every day?" to watch a short explanation video. This study is still for people who can drive to the University of Alabama at Birmingham twice a week. We have not yet extended the project to other areas. |

Conference ME/CFS talks at Stanford Dr. Younger was able to spend a few days with ME/CFS experts at Stanford. There were 3 days of scientist meetings, followed by a community symposium. The meetings went very well and there was a lot of new research presented. People who were not able to attend were able to watch it live online. As a heads up, there will be another ME/CFS conference on April 4th and 5th, and that one will be hosted by the NIH at their main campus in Bethesda, Maryland. It will be open to the public. If you can make it, the most cutting edge research should be presented there. October's meeting can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/playlist... |

Current News Alabama initiative for Veteran-based research Part of our lab's mission is to help Veterans who have been exposed to toxins, pathogens, or other agents that may cause neuroinflammation. I recently served on a state-level panel to integrate, improve, and expand the research being done in this area. The biomedical research arm of the DoD has run a story highlighting our efforts, which you can find here: http://cdmrp.army.mil/…/research_highli…/18younger_highlight |
