WHY WILL CAMP BE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR?
The short answer is that camp will be different because we are still in the midst of a pandemic. In order to mitigate the real risks of the Covid-19 virus, there will be a lot of changes this year. When we suspended in-person camp in 2020, we fully anticipated a “normal” year in 2021. But we aren’t back to normal yet, and we have a long way to go. So despite the challenges presented by running camp as safely as possible in a pandemic, we believe that for many campers and families, the benefits of camp are worth it. The independence of time away from home, the invigoration of being in the natural world, the spiritual enrichment of an unconditionally loving community… are just a few of the invaluable benefits of camp.
HOW WILL CAMP BE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR?
We are going to take every reasonable measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at camp. To be clear, there is no way to guarantee that no one will bring Covid-19 with them to camp, but we will strictly follow the best science to mitigate the risk of spread. That means screening of campers and staff, wearing masks whenever possible, reduced contact through a small cohort model, increased handwashing and sanitation, and a culture of care for one another. A lot will be different, but the most important things will stay the same. Camp will still be a safe, brave space where kids can be their truest selves in an unconditionally loving community.
