Personally, I hate email newsletters. They flood my inbox and I rarely read them. But I'm not everyone and some people prefer them to social media. So I'll keep these short, I'll keep them sporadic, but most importantly I'll keep them fun! We've been planning and moving mountains behind the scenes to bring you some great content and events for Black History Month, so have a look and get plugged in to The Club! |

The Fire Next Time is one of James Baldwin’s most enduring works. Published in 1962, it became an immediate bestseller and continues to be one of the most celebrated books written by any American author. It was also a catalyst for the civil rights movement, exposing the realities of racial injustice in America. |
|
|
Baldwin's classic has no doubt inspired countless writers over the decades, including Jesmyn Ward who edited the essay collection The Fire This Time, published in 2016. The collection features 17 Black writers, all of whom work to take the baton from Baldwin and carry his conversation forward into present day. |

Wondering what actions you can take right now? If you're in the US, get registered to VOTE before your state's deadline. Need help deciding who to vote for? Although we're an apolitical organisation, we can offer advice! If you're passionate about anti-racism and improving the lives of marginalised communities, vote for a candidate you know will fight for those communities and who will denounce and take on White supremacist groups that seek to cause harm and terrorise those same communities you love and care about. We also advise looking up the records of those on your ballot, not only at the federal level, but also the state and local. |

| | Why Are There Still So Few Black CEOs? | Wall Street Journal If corporate life is a pyramid, for Black Americans, it is one with the steepest of peaks. Out of the chief executives running America’s top 500 companies, just 1%, or four, are Black. The numbers aren’t much better on the rungs of the ladder leading to that role. | | |

| | How to be anti-racist: Speak out in your own circles | CNN Being anti-racist means more than ridding yourself of racist attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. It means you're also actively fighting that reprehensible trinity as it manifests in your life on a daily basis. | | |
