Greetings from the team over at Shlama Foundation! Welcome to our Summer 2020 Newsletter Edition! We hope everyone is continuing to stay safe during these unprecedented times. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has forced many of our annual projects to go into a brief hiatus. We hope to be able to resume normal activities soon, but only once it is safe to do so. |

Solar Project Please see the below press release on our Solar Program project. The Shlama Foundation engineers have completed the assessments for houses and farms in Tesqopa. Our partner USAID also published an article on the incredible work that is being accomplished in the region. We are very thankful for the grant USAID has provided us with as none of this would be possible without them. |

Garmawa Update We have been going back and forth for months with the people of Garmawa to come up with the best possible solution for the funds, while still keeping in mind most of the village could be sold at any time. After careful deliberation, we have all come to an agreement to invest the funds into a sheep business. The people of Garmawa are experienced in the work. On Shlama's end, we will be monitoring their income/expenses and savings. The goal is to build up enough savings to purchase the whole village some day. View our full update on the link below. | | |

This state of the art facility will employ local doctors and nurses, which will help curb the brain-drain of medical professionals leaving the homeland. - There was an outbreak of coronavirus in Baghdeda. A number of Christian clergy in Iraq, especially in the capital of Baghdad, were affected by the Coronavirus epidemic, including: Bishop Shlaimon Wardouni. Note that so far, about ten Christians, most of them from Baghdad, have died, and there are about thirty people infected with this virus.
