Celebrate National Library Week, April 7-13 |
National Library Week highlights the essential role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities, and how libraries have gone above and beyond to adapt to meet the needs of their users. Libraries give us a green light to experience something truly special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills, and pursue our passions through book clubs, storytimes, movie nights, crafting classes, lectures, and more. YCL offers a wide array of programs, classes, and resources, as well as internet and technology access, tools for literacy skills, and support for job seekers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs. York County Library is there for you, all the way to the finish line. |

Need Eclipse Plans? We’ve Got You Covered. |
On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Locally, we will experience a partial eclipse of 80% of the sun. Weather permitting, stop by the Main Library to safely view the eclipse with the Museum of York County’s Personal Solar Telescope (PST), accompanied by Planetarium Manager Carole Holmberg. The PST will be set up along the Black Street side of the Library in the City of Rock Hill’s amphitheater from 2 - 4 PM. We will also have a limited supply of safe viewing glasses that can be shared among participants. No registration required. Want to watch the eclipse online? The San Francisco Exploratorium Museum is advertising a live stream of the eclipse from various locations on April 8. You can also download the app to watch the eclipse from totality on your smartphone. |
Please enjoy the eclipse safely! |
Free ISO certified Solar Eclipse Glasses will be available to pick up at all YCL locations beginning Monday, April 1 (limit two per family), only while supplies last. The glasses were made possible through a grant from STAR Net's SEAL (Solar Eclipse Activities for Libraries) initiative, with funding from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. |
York County Library is not responsible for any damage due to use of solar eclipse glasses. Please be advised it is not safe to look directly at the sun or take pictures of the sun during an eclipse - solar rays could damage eyes and electronics. |
