Kinning Park Complex will be closed to the public from Saturday 24th December and reopen on Monday 9th January. There will be limited activity in the building to give our staff team time to prep for the next few months.

AGM 2022 We had our 3rd AGM, which was a massive milestone for us. We were super happy to have welcomed our new board members. We are also in the works of planning our next AGM coming in 2023! More info is coming soon! |

Getting back the Building! After such a long time we finally came and we took handover of the KPC building.
Those of you who have followed our journey over the last two years will know that we have faced a number of hurdles to get to this point, but WE MADE IT! |

Our very first event back into the KPC building! We were excited to have had Glasgow Community Food Networkâs first networking event of the year 'Looking Forward, Looking Back.' It was great to see people back inside the building. |

Upgrades! There are so many things that we've upgraded starting from new door vinyl signs, fancy new lanyards, accessible toilets and much more. We work towards being as accessible and inclusive as possible. |

Harvest Festival In September, we celebrated the growing season and new beginnings in the garden of our renovated building, welcoming old friends and new to mark the Harvest Festival with a programme of arts, crafts, and music. |

Paisley Road West Fest At the start of October, we were overjoyed to welcome more partner groups and organisations than we could list to join for Paisley Road West Fest celebrations! This was our biggest event of the year! |

It has been great meeting many new people at the community meals, as well as welcoming back familiar faces. We supported on average 20 people each month through one-to-one conversations, and completed on average 28 signposts and 16 referrals to other organisations and services each month. |

English language conversation groups We started two English language conversation groups where we welcomed participants to meet others, socialise and practice speaking English in an informal setting. |
|
Refugee Festival: Never Give Up: Coming Together in Celebration of Our Stories We ran an English language conversation group, where some community members came up with ideas for what then became our Refugee Festival event â we facilitated them taking a lead and sharing their cooking, stories, dance and art. |

Glasgow Science Centre Trips Our 5 trips to the Glasgow Science Centre made sure we got the balance between arts and science! We saw 3 fantastic films, experienced the Imax cinema, learned about stars in the planetarium and enjoyed a whole range of activities from building and racing Lego land yachts, to looking at soil under the microscope. |

New Scots Group Our Community Wellbeing and Participation Worker, Rago, has been the New Scotsâ Group which welcomes everyone to build confidence and language skills, exchange information and peer support, and make both confidence and language skills. |

Men's Group Our Community Mental Health Worker, Kevin, has been supporting the Community Learning and Development team with facilitating the Tuesday Menâs Group! |

Tuesday Board Games
We have also been playing board games at the Tuesday meals â the unofficial Ludo tournament will continue in 2023! |

Making Skills sessions with Stef In June, our arts and crafts facilitator Stef introduced some of our community members to an array of different making skills: jesmonite casting, leather working, wire techniques for jewellery, and textile weaving. |

Woven In Govan Exhibition Launch We welcomed the âWoven in Govanâ exhibition launch in June! |

Musicians in Exile performance We also welcomed live music: Musicians in Exile shared sounds from across the world with us in July and September. |

Embroidery Sessions with TS Beall
We gave embroidery a go with artist TS Beall leading on âStitch & Bletherâ sessions. |

Start of partnership with Glasgow Tool Library We also started our partnership with Glasgow Tool Library! Every Thursday, our community members can learn more about their work, sign up to become members, and borrow tools. GTL also held a film screening of âThe Cloud Forestâ after one of our community meals in December! |

Stories of People and Trees with Jessica Kerr
Local artist Jessica Kerr played cello to accompany an introduction to her project Stories of People and Trees. |

Guitar and Ukulele sessions in Partnership with Music Broth We partnered with Music Broth to run a series of guitar and ukulele sessions from October to December. |

Gathering the Seed event with Glasgow Seed Library
Our guests from Glasgow Seed Library ran a Seedy Social and a âColonial Seedsâ talk at a community meal in May, and Gathering the Seed event in November. |

Clothes mending at some of our Tuesday community lunches We welcomed back our volunteer Snaa to offer clothes mending and support with learning to sew at some of our Tuesday community lunches. There will be more mending sessions in 2023! |

KPCreative Sessions
We launched our KPCreative Sessions, a series of workshops being hosted at KPC by local artists and creatives that began in November and ran over winter to brighten our days and teach us new skills and perspectives. There are more coming in the new year! |

333 local residents took part in annual Kinning Park community festivals. We collaborated with 12 other gardens in celebration of a yearly Harvest Festival. 2 constituted groups developed with local residents on lane improvements in the area. |

Unexpected Gardens Ibrox Terrace Partnership with BWSS, Galgael, Dandelion, SWG3 and Tenement Veg! Workshops were delivered on wayfinding ecosignage writing, Terrarium making, and Music Broth conducted one to one guitar lessons. |
|
Local Place Plan report completion Weâve successfully submitted the first Local Place Plan for approval. The plan is based on 18 months of research and working with the communities to propose future improvements in our local neighbourhoods. |

LASI and Clifford Lane 2 constituted groups developed with local residents on lane improvements in the area. |
|
Festival Park Family Day Over 150 family packs were given out at this event. Estimated number of attendees 300. Partnership work with Lorne Street Primary and Glasgow Science Centre. Event supported by Helen Kyle (Local resident) and KPC Placement Student Cat. |

Elizabeth Street Garden mural The Elizabeth Street Garden Project started in April 2022 with the aim of clearing and creating a green space for community engagement with volunteer support. One of the ideas of this project was to create a mural which was completed in partnership work with SWG3 and Tragic the artist. |

Reinstatement of Kinning Park Community Council Kinning Park Community Council was officially reinstated. This is a great opportunity for representing the opinions and needs of the community. |

Menâs Group Community Learning and Development and Community Wellbeing and Participation have started a menâs group. The group is focused on doing activities related to physical and mental health to improve wellbeing. |
|
Economies for Healthier Lives Community Panel We were part of a community panel to co-produce a Health Inequalities Assessment Tool that will measure health impacts from construction projects in the Glasgow City Region. This panel is led by the Scottish Community Development Centre. |

Volunteer Callout! A Baby and Toddler group is starting at KPC! We are looking for volunteers to help host the sessions. This involves making sure the space is ready for the group like setting out chairs, and preparing tea and coffee. We are hoping to establish a pool of volunteers and having 2 âhostsâ per week so that it works out as a monthly commitment. For more information email ellen@kinningparkcomplex.org |
