Sepsis Awareness Month

September is Sepsis Awareness Month. Sepsis is an illness caused from a lingering prior infection. Sepsis is fatal. Because sepsis is fatal, it’s important to catch it early. Remember the symptoms of sepsis by using the acronym T.I.M.E: Temperature, infection, mental decline, and feeling extremely ill. Sepsis affects 1.7 million Americans every year, and is commonly found in adults over 65.

Melissa Pasquali

@beachspooniecrafts

Our SSB guest this month is Melissa Pasquali of Beach Spoonie Crafts! Melissa is in her 30's, and she was diagnosed with Lupus when she was working as a librarian. Melissa became too sick to work as a librarian anymore, but she always loved the beach in her home on the Gulf Coast in Florida. She is very outdoorsy and enjoyed collecting shark teeth she found. Melissa now runs her own jewelry business from the found shark teeth, which allows her to be her own boss and work from her bed and couch on high pain days. Melissa also makes jewelry with spoon pendants, to represent herself and other spoonie's. Meet Melissa and watch her interview below!
