What's New

New blog post

On Tuesday we released a new blog post called "Why we need to keep & use female sex language" that explores how women have been impacted by replacing language we have used for a long time with "inclusive" language. Especially now that the government uses "anyone who identifies as woman" as to their definition of woman ("man" remains the dictionary definition of "adult human male). We also have a corresponding video that was released that same day, which you can watch here.

Women's voices

We have a section on our website that is dedicated to posting anonymous entries from anyone who has been affected by the policy changes that have taken place since C-16 came into force that is now up and running. We currently have a couple posts up that you can read about here. With the current state of affairs we recognize that it feels difficult for women to speak out and share their experience. With that in mind WMC wanted to create a safe place that these experiences can be shared, whilst remaining anonymous. This also allows others to see they are not alone and paints a picture of what is actually happening in our country. If you are ready to end your silence in a safe and anonymous way you can send your submission here.

Campaigns

We are in the middle of our first postcard campaign in support of female athletes! We have around 100 that will be going out soon. We will be including details about our first postcard campaign in our next newsletter, next week: stay tuned! We are also working on a subsequent postcard campaign! If you would like to join WMC and take part in future campaigns please get in touch with us via this form. We are currently planning our next postcard campaign and would love to have you take part. We appreciate all donations we have received that have helped us make campaigns like this possible. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so here.

Swag now available!

Over the past weekend we opened up our online store. We have two different flat cards available that are all about sports: one featuring basketball and the other featuring running. Both cards also feature a fact about how males and females are different. We also have a sticker all about language that is available for purchase. There will be more options added to the online store in the next week or two. Proceeds from the sales go towards helping WMC pay for basic operating costs and initiatives.

Things you can do

We know there are a lot of women who, for many good reasons, cannot share their views publicly. Even though having basic human rights should not be political in any way. If you feel that way there are still things that you can do, like:

  • Share our posts and videos where you feel comfortable doing so.
  • Follow or subscribe to any of our social media. Download and print one of our posters and post them in your area.
  • Download and use our letter template to send to your candidates with respect to signing WMC's Candidate's Pledge to uphold sex based rights.
  • If you have been personally affected by any of the legislative or policy changes that have taken place since C-16 came into force you may choose to submit your experience anonymously. This will be posted on the website. WMC is looking to have a collection of experiences to show the massive impact C-16 has had on everyone, especially women.

We look forward to growing with all of you. If you would like to take part in any of our future initiatives or have any ideas please reach out to us.
