Malandro Farm News

Week of June 17-23

We have completed the first CSA round of 4 weeks and our next session begins this weekend SAT 6/20 in Santa Fe & Taos, and this upcoming TUES 6/23 in Abiquiu.  We still have a few spaces available for the CSA shares, so don't hesitate to get signed up!  We are a bit behind in sending out this week's newsy reminder, so we're extending the deadline to sign up through tomorrow Friday June 19.

We've really loved getting to make new connections and build them week by week, we are excited to see it continue all summer long.

 LEAF FENNEL RECIPES

MINT + FENNEL TEA

The easiest way to enjoy it..

Simply chop 10–12 mint leaves along with a handful of fresh fennel fronds, then steep in about 4 cups hot water for at least 20 minutes.  Add a slice of lemon and enjoy hot, or put in the fridge to share.  Leave the herbs and lemon in the water while in the fridge to increase the flavor.

FENNEL + HONEY DRESSING

Jazz up your roasted carrots with a drizzle of this...

Whisk together ¼ C honey + 2 T melted butter + zest of 2 lemons + ¼ tsp salt + ¼ tsp pepper + dash garlic.  Add in 1-2 handfuls of roughly chopped fennel greens.  Pour over carrots and any other mixed veggies you roasted and give a gentle toss to coat and combine.

FENNEL FROND PESTO

Give your pesto a new flavor profile by blending up this combination...

4 C chopped fennel fronds + 2 cloves crushed garlic + 1 tsp pepper + 1/4 C unsalted pumpkin seeds/pine nuts/walnuts + 4-8 T olive oil + Juice of 1 lemon + salt to taste + optional add in a bit of parmesan or nutritional yeast

Enjoy on pasta or bruschetta.

Don't forget we still have our homemade Tomato Jam & Goat's Milk Soap you can add to your order for pick-up any week, so let us know what we can bring you.

Chai Spice, Lavender, Calendula, Poppymint, Eucalyptus, Fennel Charcoal

Thank you again, from our hearts to yours.  We are grateful to be able to keep doing what we love, what is meaningful to us, and we support those in the world doing what is meaningful to all of us.  We believe in the importance of nourishing our bodies and spirits, justice and equality.
