I woke up from a dream the other night. I will tell you most of my dreams leave me thinking, “Whoa that was weird.” But, in this dream I was telling two gentlemen about Legacy. As our conversation was ending, the two men, full of joy, reached into their pockets. One flopped down a two-fold leather wallet so full that it fell open onto the table. The other man pulled out his change, quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies. It seemed that they couldn’t give fast enough and the moment their money hit the table they exclaimed, “We’ll be back!” and ran off. I woke up feeling this same joy that the men expressed in their giving. Praising God for His provision!
I can’t remember the details in my dream leading up to this or what happened next as that was the end of the dream. But as I reflect on the dream, God brought to mind the Parable of the Ten Talents from Matthew 25. As you will probably recall in this parable, a master who was traveling far away put his three servants in charge of his goods. The last of his servants essentially did nothing with the treasure his master entrusted him. But the first two servants, through their faithful response invested the talents so that they earned interest. Not only was the master pleased with them, but they were invited into the joy of their lord.
Just to give you a glimpse into those the Lord is drawing to Legacy. We have large families, small families, younger families, older families, single moms, single dads, grandparents raising their grandchildren, families in the midst of adoption, foster families, adopted children, homeschooled children, children from the public system, children from private schools, children of prisoners, children of those who have been restored out of addiction, children of ministers, public school teacher’s children, families from congregations in Carson City, Carson Valley, Reno, Dayton and Lake Tahoe.
What do all of these people have in common—they are seeking to grow out the Kingdom of God. They all desire to strengthen and equip their children and grandchildren, this and future generations, with a solid foundation in the Written and Living Truth.
Why are we sharing this now?
