JANUARY NEWSLETTER 

Another year is behind us that saw lots of changes and ups and downs.  Into 2022 we are still grappling with COVID, but hopefully things will look up for the rest of our year.

APPOINTMENT OF NEW RUM

 

 

Most will probably be aware by now that Mal Gray has been appointed as our new RUM for 2022.  Mal comes with loads of umpiring experience behind himand we are sure he will do a great job as he takes on the challenging role of being our coach !!

 

Biggest thanks must go to Kimberley as she steps down for a well earned break, for her time, dedication and strength in guiding and developing the umpire team in her term as RUM during what were very challenging and unusual times.

PRE-SEASON TRAINING

We have already started Friday night Pre-Season walks and social events as a lead up to training. 

 

Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for when and where.  You can stay on afterwards and enjoy a meal with the group.

 

Now that our new RUM has been appointed, he will make an announcement soon regarding a training start date.

MEMBERSHIP FOR 2022

 

Please consider becoming a membership of our association as it helps us to help you and our group.  We would encourage all who are umpiring to join up.  The benefits of being a member can be found here. 

 

Membership forms and fees can be found here.  Juniors we do need a parental consent, so you will need the printed form with signature to be submitted.

Round 6 the FairPlay vouchers program is NOW OPEN for applications.

The program aims to increase regular participation in sport for eligible children and young people. Parents, caregivers and guardians can now apply for a voucher valued up to $150 for their child or young person. Vouchers can be put towards sport and active recreation membership, registration or participation fees with registered activity providers. You do need to be elligible.

Key dates for Round 6: 

  • Round 6 now open
  • 23 March 2022: Round 6 applications close (or earlier if fully allocated)
  • 11 May 2022: Vouchers expire and must have been presented to an activity provider. AFLTUA is an activity provider and the voucher can be presented to us for payment of membership fees

FROM THE COMMITTEE/RUM

 

  • If you intend to umpire this year make sure you are registered in OfficialsHQ
  • The association is still looking into the possibilities of having our own training space along with AFLQ
  • We will be holding more Bunnings Sausage Sizzles this year and needing volunteers.  The first one for this year is 20 February.  Keep an eye on facebook for details.
  • AFLTUA has had a meeting with AFLQUA with a view to collaborating and sharing knowledge so it benefits all umpires
  • We are still looking for a Sponsorship Coordinator to join the committee.  If think you would be good at this and would like to volunteer, let us know!  We will show you the ropes.
