    Situation

People who suffer from enduring mental illnesses are ignored by society and get left behind. Resources and consequently access to treatment are inadequate. Our overcrowded prisons are full of people with mental illness, effectively being punished for being ill. There are too few hospital beds in mental health wards, and revolving door patients who have no safe home environment; 20% of patients are on wards long term because they have nowhere suitable to live which offers the required support.

    Solution

By providing a safe, secure, friendly environment where they can receive 24/7 support, be kept out of hospital and away from the Criminal Justice System. We know that the temporary supported residential options available to this vulnerable sector work well for the time they are there. We want to extend this model to provide permanent homes, life-long support for those who struggle to live independently. Alongside our supported homes, we will continue to offer a Home Visit Services.
