Happy June!
I hope this month's newsletter finds you well. This is a busy month around here. Two of my kids have June birthdays and my husband and I celebrate our wedding anniversary in June. I am about to turn in the third Maggie D'arcy mystery to my editor, and also . . . it's publication month!
On June 15th, The Mountains Wild will be out in paperback, in a Minotaur Signature edition, perfect for beach reading or book groups, with some extra content, including an essay by me and discussion questions. And then on June 22nd, A Distant Grave will finally be out in the world! Library Journal calls it "intricately plotted" and "a tense thriller" and Mystery & Suspense says it "starts like a thunderstorm and ends like hurricane."
I am so grateful to anyone who buys one of my books or requests it at the library, and I humbly ask that you consider purchasing from your favorite independent bookstore. Our wonderful indies have kept putting books in the hands of readers throughout the pandemic and they need our support now and always. I'll be doing a number of virtual events and will be touring on Instagram and with some fabulous book bloggers too. You can find details here and also information about how to purchase signed and personalized books.
Once I launch A Distant Grave, I'm looking forward to reading (preferably in the hammock) the huge pile of books that have accumulated in my To Be Read pile, getting out into our vegetable garden, and enjoying summer rituals like swimming in our swimming hole, going for Vermont maple creemees (soft serve maple ice cream for the uninitiated), and enjoying a slightly slower pace. I'll also be writing, working on the fourth Maggie mystery (as yet untitled and set in Dublin) as well as a Vermont-set novel I'm excited to dive into. I hope you and yours are well and getting ready for your own summer rituals.
Hope to see you at some of my virtual events and as always, thanks for reading!
