Hello, Happy VE Day and a big welcome to new subscribers!

For those who follow me on instagram you will see we have our Union Jack flying on this important day of remembrance, added with lovely weather, we are feeling blessed and thinking of all of those who are less fortunate than us.

I hope you enjoy this week's smorgasbord of delights.

CUSHIONS FOR CHARITIES

Introducing

Cushions for Charities: a personal project using remnant fabrics, making them into cushions and selling the finished product with 10% of the sales going to charity. This month (May) I will be supporting Women's Aid (see details below).

These cushions are exclusive to Movers & Shakers subscribers and are 'one-off's'. I will be selling the cushions in pairs and sets of three, apart from the odd cushion where there hasn't been enough fabric to make more than one.

Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children.

This week we are treated to two recipes from the renown Quo Vadis the historic Soho restaurant and members' club based on Dean Street, London. I'm joining Christopher Brown in putting my hand up to it being one of my favourite restaurants in town. Mouth-watering food, decadent cocktails, slick interiors and exceptional service, what else would you expect from the Hart boys and their team.

LISTEN UP

THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD

I was delighted to come across The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread; a podcast series about separating marketing hype from hard science presented by Greg Foot for BBC Radio 4. Short, no longer than 30 minutes, to the point, discussions and facts on subjects such as teeth whitening products - do they stand up to the claims made by their manufacturers to putting caffeine shampoo and other hair products through the evidence mill.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely long weekend.
