Complementarty

Sometimes trialling materials and techniques leads to discovering ways of expressing or creating something new. In an age where we are interacting with and relying on technology more and more, it’s enormously satisfying to engage with ‘old school’ materials and methods and create and make just for the sake of it. I’ve been working in a handmade artist book and filling it with ‘bushscapes’ from outside my studio, and have added quotes and ephemera from the bush and surrounds.

This artist book was handmade by my friend Samantha Mackie. We have discovered that our skills and aesthetics combine well, so together we will be holding a workshop at Eramboo Terrey Hills on Saturday 4th May. This is a full day of making your own artist book, and filling it with painting and other media with a view to creating a beautiful chronicle. It’s a lovely, satisfying way of recording sentiments and responding to visual and historical stimulus. Everyone is welcome, especially beginners, and there will be careful guidance and demonstrations by both Samantha and myself, with plenty of inspiration as well as delicious food all day. Scarf news! Now available via the new shop section on my website. The design on the scarves was developed from an original artwork from the 'Understory' series. Printed with eco dyes, it is available in silky soft silk, or cosy warm wool

(just in time for Mother's Day, just saying..)

Finally, thank you for the kind feedback and visits during ‘Quintessence’, which closed on Sunday. I was really happy with the show and especially pleased to be able to share the narrative and background to that body of work. I’m looking forward to getting back to Central Australia in September, and the very last couple of places are available on my

‘Accompanied Adventure’ if you would like to come too!

Thank you as always for your interest and support.
